So I decided to replace both upstream and downstream O2 sensors over the weekend. I removed the downstream one first. Easier than expected to remove the sensor from the catalyst can, but the plastic connector end? While ‘nother story. I couldn’t get the pieces to disconnect and finally had to unscrew the metal tab which upheld the sensor cord. When I finally got it removed I noticed my sensor plastic heads had slightly different profiles. Problem with ordering aftermarket stuff no doubt.
The blue one is original. Green is the new one. Notice the location of the small tab on the outside edges. It’s slightly lower on the blue than the green one. So it wouldn’t fit. I removed the tab by filing it down and it fit fine
The real problem came though when I tried to remove the upstream sensor. I simply had no wiggle room to get any leverage to loosen the sensor from the piping so I don’t know how to get it out. Any suggestions on how to remove this upstream sensor?
