Hi guys,

When my battery died, so did my stereo. I had my car at the body shop for a week and when I got it back the stereo was not working correctly (just got stuff painted). It was unrelated to the body shop so I'm going to blame it on the battery dying. It turned on at first but was all static and when I had the car off, it seemed like the cd player kept spinning (very weird), but now it does not turn on at all. In addition to help you guys, I did end up on accident pulling the pins out of the 10PIN connector for the cd player over a month ago but had no issues until this, I did follow and match the pins back in as was posted in a previous thread. I do not believe the deck is bad because (on accident) I touched white/blue + red/green (Power backup and Power) and the LCD turns on with the A/C controls working.

I've checked the fuses below by the door (none blown) and by battery (none blown).

So I'm fed up at this point. I do not want to pay for another CD player replacement because it is garbage, so im looking at aftermarket options. I'm looking at as an option to replace the clock:

  1. What do you think is needed to get this setup going? I know a custom mount is necessary, I can make it work/fi
  2. How can I get the A/C controls to show up on the DASH without the CD player settings? I know it can work because of the two wires i mentioned above turn it on, but does not turn it off (to my knowledge)
  3. I have my sub+amp hooked into my stock bose, will hooking up the aftermarket deck disable the bose system?

Please advise. TIA

Hello RaviB,
I think your CD player is still ok, but you need to check your 10PIN Connector.
Here you will find some help regarding the Audio System:

To reply to your simple DIN after market choice, I would rather change the whole system with a double DIN and remove the original radio.
The clock location need to have free space (check this, specially picture 4 and 8), and you need to bridge the simple DIN to the original system.
Moreover, the "new" screen will touch the cache from the tape of your actual Bose system.

In your case, i'll do like this
Take an all-in-one sound system, like this one (Alpine is, for me, the best sound quality and clarity)
Take this harness with this steering control adapter, so you don't need to play too much with the connector. Only connections to do: steering control on the A/C and AV switch connector
Relocate in the clock space the original screen.
Your audio system will work with better sound quality with the original Bose speakers and subwoofer.
Some threads speak about double din custom installation.

Anyway, good luck for solving your issue.
