Nissan OEM IPOD install

Is this the same kit that would be installed by the dealer on an '07 FX? I had one of these integration kits in my old car and loved it (besides the awkward navigation). Does any one have a picture of what the car display looks like when the iPod is playing?

Feel free to make me look stupid. But the more I read about installing the adapter for either AUX or an iPod, the more confused I get. I think between the dated nature of some of the initial posts, the language we use to distinguish XM vs. non-XM equipped vehicles, and slight variations between model years, makes these threads really hard to dissect.

I was a good boy and searched around, and even went as far as to look at the results (on both forums) and I'm still scratching my head. Would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction? I'd prefer an AUX hookup (to maintain control using the iPod), but if installing an iPod adapter's simpler, I'll go that route. My confusion's mostly with the lack of info for folks without the SAT button in their car and then which adapter I'm supposed to get.

I've got an '06 FX35. There is no SAT button on my (non-nav) radio.

Pretendo maybe I can clear a few things up cause my car sounds exactly the same as you have described yours only mine an '07 but that shouldn't matter. I just installed an OEM style iPod adapter in my FX on Wednesday after doing a great deal of research. I got it from this link: http://www.nissanipod.com/storename/nissanipodcom/dept/242839/ItemDetail-10027320.aspx I do not have a SAT button on my radio so to toggle to the iPod you press the Radio button. After that it is just as described to select different options for Album, Artist, Playlist, etc. You can't select from your iPod because it is locked out but the steps below that stole from the other forum might work. I however, have not tried them out yet. So far after two days I love it and the install is very easy.

1- Take your ipod, and make sure its on.
2- Plug it in to the FX gateway.
3- Immediately hold the play/pause button on the Ipod until it goes to sleep (a couple of seconds).
4- Then press the menu button on the Ipod. It will wake up, and still be under the radio's control, but you now can scroll thru the ipod and play whatever you want! Plus the song up/down on the radio still advances songs! (I tried using track up/down to go into the menus, but it would work. Didnt try again but it should work).

The web link doesn't work (also, nissanipod.com in general)

Does anyone have a new link to this kit? Is it any different than the one you can get on eBay?

After this post definitely going to order the PA15-NIS and get it installed. Much easier than I though.

Great write up!

Ipod adapter installed. $213 (part $145 and installation $55) Al & Ed's Autosound in La Mesa. Great job and wonderful price!

hi adinfinitum,

I know that you have installed the interface for a long time, but I really hope that you still remember how to install it. I'm having a hard time to install the interface. So, could you please send me all the info., like pics or whatever you have about the installation? Looking forward to hear from you.

thanks,

what exactly are you having problems with? the pins fit in one place only which means you can't plug them wrong and you use the 10 pin plug. the hardest part is to haggle the wires.

I'm not sure what the problem is actually. After I plugged the cables in and put the head unit back, the stereo system just didn't have any response regardless I tried the CD, AM/FM or TAPE mode. Also, I got one extra harness that I didn't know where to plug. So, did I hook up everything correctly or did I miss any step? Please help!!! By the way, mine is 05 Without SAT.

mine's without sat also. let me remember...on the back of the screen i plugged in two pins, one on top of the head unit and a 10 pin (i think so) down on the my left side of the head unit. the pins that got disconnected from the head unit were connected at the other end of the PA15 NIS. like i said, they go in one place only so there's no room for error. then the adapter cable come from the back of the pa15 nis and in to the ipod it went. i am sorry i don't have any pics to show you..

hey, i tried to connect it again, but still didn't get a good news. first of all, i wanna know if i made a wrong order. mine has NAV. and there is a SAT button but not activated. so do you think i get the kit without SAT is right, or should i get the kit with SAT.

so is it another interface that ive to get or can i just get another cable to make it work? coz i just go to the website with the link you sent me.
