Nismo r-tune CAI fits our fx?

Hi pros, does anyone know if the nismo r-tune fits our fx? Actually, I'm using the fujita one. Is there really any difference between different CAI? Or just name? Btw, I was told that the bigger the air filter, the better since there is much more inflow air. Is that true?

If it fits the wheel well of the G or Z, it won't fit the FX. If you ever look at the G forums, they dyno'd a bunch of intakes and basically showed they were all useless. They pretty much all made within a couple of hp to stock, short ram, CAI, Z-tube, etc. It is true to a certain extent that a bigger air filter is better, but only up to the point that it provides enough air for your engine. If it's too small, it's restrictive. But the engine can only draw in so much air anyways, a bigger filter won't change that.
 
i agree when it comes down to our specific fx, but on the 09+g37s, by just taking the filters out and running with no filters the car gets a huge performance upgrade. The throttle respone +horse is amazing about 10+

So,isn't necessary to switch to nismo even if it fits? Do you know what's the best size of the filter?

I don't know the best size filter, never really researched it, I think tchuck did some research a while back, search for that. And Dracula is referring to stock air filters, which must be very restrictive on a G37. Never heard of taking the filters out adding that much power. But most aftermarket intake filters move more than enough air for a N/A setup. Even on boosted cars, air filters themselves are rarely a restriction. My old turbo car I ran w/o an air filter for a while because I needed an HKS mushroom due to space constraints and my turbo inlet was 4" (very hard filter to get). It took me 3 months before the special order came in so I was running window screen on the turbo for a while. I happened to dyno before and after adding the filter. The filter cost me exactly 0 hp. The dynoes were literally within 1-2 hp of each other both gain and loss on multiple runs so that's just dyno noise.

Generally speaking, bigger is better when it comes to air filters.

Volumetric efficiency on a VQ35 is, as near as makes any difference, 1.00, and a 3.5L motor consumes a little over 432cfm at 7k rpm. Therefore, you need a filter that will flow at least 433cfm. A clean and freshly oiled (properly oiled) K&N filter will provide unrestricted flow at about 6cfm per square inch of filter, so if you go that route you'll want one with a surface area of at least 73sq in.
