What year model are you looking for?

Do you plan to modify it? the 35 has more modding possibility plus better mileage. the 45 is faster and all 45s are AWD (i believe) is AWD something you need where you live?

Awwww yea another NYer to the scene. I personaly go with a 45 ( more power). But whatever deal you get thats good, go with it. 35's and 45's are good.

Yea I definitely want to modify it that is actually my plan. I want to supercharge it as well. Where I live I do not need AWD at all but it is always good to have. I mean I have a V8 before not a fan but if it holds better with the supercharger than I will look into that. I want a 1st gen the 2003-2008, I personally like the body style better than the newer ones.

brklynjohn: yes sir lol and yeah whatever I can find is what I'll grab first you know. And I guess I know who to go to if I ever need any help around here.

sweet! have fun with picking the right fx and be careful! make sure its an awd coz i got fooled then i had to resell and get a diff one.
hope to see you and your ride in near fx meets soon!

damn thanks for the heads up on that LEXFX I will def keep that in mind. And believe the more people I can find in NY, LI area the better for me. Thanks for the welcomes! = )

Hope to get more opinions from everyone when I decide to pick it up and your opinions on everything!

heyy welcome to the :iS: another new yorker!:tup: .. im over in queens ... i have an '05 FX35, AWD, black exterior, brick/black interior .. i must say the AWD came in handy this winter!

good luck on ur search!

Hey M, welcome to the forum! You started with a great one - way above average in my experience with other forums. Believe it or not, this forum right here is part of the FX ownership experience. The ideas, support and community connect you to your car in a way I've never really experienced before. It's pretty cool.

Here's some good info for ya - the 2003-2004 models were the initial 1st gen release. In 2005, there was some minor re-styling of the exterior trim and interior. Make sure you know which one it is you are getting if you have a preference. Of course, no matter which interior you get there are aftermarket mods/changes that can be made.

To my knowledge there are no available Supercharger kits for the FX45, so if you want to buy a kit and have a plug and play supercharger, stick with the FX35. The FX35 shares the same engine and drivetrain with the Nissan 350Z and the Infiniti G35 so any performance modification those cars can handle usually translate to the FX with some minor customization, if not a direct bolt on. Take advantage of the years of history with the VQ35DE engine in the FX35.

Be realistic about the cost of major mods to the car. While they provide a lot of enjoyment, they require time and attention as well. They will always cost more than you planned and can continue to add maintenance costs down the line. Read up on fuel costs as well - in these times more than one person has said goodbye to the FX in favor of a more fuel efficient commuter.

Good luck on your purchase and we all know you'll love the car. Welcome to :iS:

Welcome to :iS:all things FX:tup::tup:
Since it snows where you are I'd get AWD and as said above the 35's have more MOD options available to you. 22" Rims look great on the FX but I would keep the OEM wheels and mount some dedicated snow tires on them to use during the winter months. The AWD is only as good as the tires that you run in the snow.
If you do go with 22's you will probably want to do either some H&R sport springs or coil overs to drop it some and get rid of that fender gap over the tires.
When you get ready to buy your rims make sure to get an offset that will move the tires out to inside the wheel well just short of any rub issues.
