Hello to everyone on this forum.
I have been visiting this forum as a guest for well over 1 month now, today I took the plunge and became a member.
I am originally from the UK, "london" to be precise but I now reside on this wonder island of Taiwan. I have been in Taiwan nearly 5 years and I now enjoy my life to the full unlike when I was living in dreary cold horrible london. Gosh I am never ever going back there as Taiwan is my adopted home country.
I am married to a Taiwanese girl whom I met in the UK and we eventually got married in london, we then at my suggestion started a new life in Taiwan, giving up my job, selling my home and transferring the money to Taiwan. We recently had a new born child and my wife gave birth to her by "C" section in April this year, such a beautiful mixed raced girl.
Also I decided while my wife was in hospital to purchase a new car, I looked at the "S" series benz, the BMW X5 and the X6, but then I saw the infinity FX35 of which I knew very little about.
I went to Infinity to view the models of their luxury cars I saw 3 versions of the FX35. 1st being the basic luxury model with very little extras and horrible ugly 18" wheels and only RWD with AWD as an optional extra, no bose entertainment system but available at extra cost. Then I looked at the 2nd FX35 this being a black in colour and top of the range Sports package. I then looked at the FX45, here in Taiwan this vehicle has it all, theres nothing for you to ask for as in optional extras, its got the lot!!
I opted for the Sports pack version and insisted on a special order from Japan to include all optional equipment available for the sports model. My FX has everything that the FX45 has apart from rear wheel steering and that huge 390bhp 5 litre V8 engine.
The difference in the prices were also questionable, for example the basic range to that of the sports pack was at the time $2.2 million NT dollars, the sports pack FX35 cost me $2.6 million NT dollars, now to buy the FX45 would have cost me $3.3 million NT dollars so in fact it was $700,000nt dollars more than the FX35 sports pack and I didn't feel it was worth to pay that kind of money for a bigger engine and rear wheel steering.
Besides, put the FX35 and the FX45 on a straight road together and hit the floor with the gas pedal that V6 FX35 in fact will stick very close to the FX45 its only when they approach the 100kph mark does the FX45 show its strength, it starts to pull away, even so in my opinion there isn't that much difference and just how fast do we need to go anyway in a straight line.
I also question that strange BHP figure the technicians came to for the 3.5 litre V6 engine, 303BHP, why an odd number 303? The 3.7 litre G37s has 330BHP, good number.
I have no complaints about my new car at all, its everything I wanted it to be for a luxury SUV, the only thing I will upgrade is that rear muffler to a rear twin muffler to give it a sporty sound, looking at bora etc etc.
The leather compared to the 1st generation infinity is second to none, i foresee this lasting far far longer than the original but compared to the leather used in the Lexus RX330 infiniti still are way behind.
Also I have read here in the forum how you guys want to watch DV / TV on the front video screen and you have been advised to purchase a unit and incorporate it into the system to allow DVD on the front monitor while driving. Its nonsense, you need nothing other than to take it to infiniti and ask then to activate that function, currently its deactivated by default by the factory.
Take a look under the glovebox, to the left you should see a computer attachment socket, this when plugged into the infinit laptop service computer can activate the function of front screen viewing while driving. The technician can also stop the itelligent key from opening the windows if you press the lock button for 30secs on the intelligent key. I found this out because I had parked my car in a car park and upon returning to it I found both front windows FULLY down. Its seems that when I got out of the vehicle after parking it I remember that I bent down to adjust my shoelaces and in that kneeling position the intelligent lock button was pressing on my leg but I had no idea. This is a security risk for sure and therefore I had it deactivated at the first possible chance. Strange how you can use the intelligent key to put the windows down but not up, so dam stupid!! Furthermore the techncian can do a lot of other things using that socket with his computer at the service centre.
The one thing I do like on my car is the Bose DVD entertainment system and its rear roof mounted video screen for the rear passengers, so funky. I also have those huge 6 spoke Enkei 21" wheels and tyres and currently I am trying to find out the silver paint colour code thats used to paint those wheels, so far its been to no avail.
Anyway I will post some photos for you to view but I am sure you know exactly what these NEW FX35's look like.
Regards
Terry
