Hi, everybody very nice forum and very helpful.

Looking to buy a 2006 FX45 w/40k miles,i had a few questions.
What do i need to look for.
Do they have any common issues/problems.
I've read somewhere they are not very stable at highway speeds something about shimmy/shake, is there a fix.
Are all FX45's AWD.
How do they drive in snow.
Can you give me some pros and cons.
I'd really apreciate any input/advice.

I will be trading in my 2001 Seville STS

Thanks
Pete

Welcome to :iS:
I own a FX35 so can't tell much about the v8 engine on the 45.
The FX does have a little issue with the steering wheel shaking a lil bit at high speed, easy fix tho, there is a DIY here for it.
As far as I know there are RWD models too, not sure if the 45 offer this option but, the AWD works pretty good in pretty much any condition, even in the snowy covered roads the grip and control is good. Now, some FXs come with a snow button to help control the revs of the engine and avoid wheel spin.

Pros: looks good, drives good, is comfortable, well built, reliable, girls like it... :wink (2):
Cons: None.

Welcome to :iS: And you are in a great region for FX where they have many meets and many of your questions can be answered.

Welcome. All the FX45 and FX50 are AWD. You can only get RWD on the V-6.

They are sensitive to alignment, but they are stable on the highway. Not unsafe by any stretch of the imagination.

They are decent in the snow, better in SNOW mode for deep or slippery stuff, and I'm sure they are much better with dedicated snow tires (I run all-seasons all year 'round).

Hey Pete, welcome to :iS: The 45 is a beast. I have owned mine almost a year, also in IL, love it more everyday. Lots of great info on here, and a knowledgeable friendly group of owners.

Welcome! I have a 2006 FX45. You'll be happy about going with 4.5 liter. It can be a beast, with just a few mods. I live in the SF Bay area, have driven mine to Tahoe in the snow many times. The Snow mode actually works well, it feels confident in snow.

Thanks for the welcome and info.

If the deal goes thru i will be spending a lot of time here.

Love the meets idea.

Pete

Hope you get it Pete! I don't have any issues driving at "highway speeds", but there is a simple fix for it. The AWD is pretty amazing in the snow, especially with dedicated winter tires. Pretty much every 06+ 45 comes with tech package. It all comes down to picking the color combination that you like. And yeah, hurry up and buy it already and join the Chicago club! :top:

Got it last night and already love it.
This thing takes turns like a race car and pulls hard,WOW.
Steering wheel shake not so bad going for alingment tomorrow and the quick fix i read on here.

I tried programing my Sears garage door today no luck, any tips for doing this.
I'm no techy guy can anybody help connecting Blueberry 9670 with the car.

Thanks in advance.
Pete

Congrats on your purchase! Welcome to IS officially! If you think it turns like a race car and pulls hard now, wait until you mod it. It's like night and day, lol! :top:

OmG Pete, just noticed you're in Chicago too! We are pretty close group and like to meet up often! Come hang out with us next Saturday at an install meet!
