Newbie from the Rockies!

Car
2003 Infiniti FX35 AWD
Hey all,

Newbie here, my name is Mark and I am addicted to your fine machine they call "THE FX"!!!!

I am currently looking to get into one and can't wait to soak in a ton of information and learn from guys that have dealt with these cars for years.

I truly appreciate the time and effort the mods and current members take to make this site (from what I can tell) the best Infiniti site on the web.

I look forward to gaining and exchanging knowledge from all of you. :good:

This place is bad news. De-activate your account now. Just kidding. Be prepared to learn a lot from everyone, and of course become tempted to do lots of mods and spend money! It's a great place. Welcome to IS!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the warm welcome!

Haha done! Can't wait. Have driven a POS 2003 Chevy Pick-up and have never driven anything other than trucks, so I can't wait to try and hammer out this deal!

Anybody know what forum I need to use to get purchase advice on these two FX's I am currently looking at?

Here is good, post some details and members will chime in, welcome to the scene! buy a V8

Haha I wish I could. No 45's for at least 200 miles that are worthy :(

The first FX35 is a 2006 with 89,xxx miles on it from a dealership. Black/Black with chrome wheels (tech package). Still looks in good, but not great shape on the exterior. Interior is very nice. Still do not know very much about it. It is at a local dealership. Just a few emails exchanged.

The 2nd FX35 is a 2003 with only 69,xxx miles on it. Also Black/Black with chrome wheels. Does not have the tech package.
The guy actually lives like 3 blocks away and is a good dude that really takes care of it. He has done all the recalls including dash, just replaced the front wheel bearings a few months ago. He is the 2nd owner and has a clean carfax. No major issues.

This may sound dumb, but I really like the tails on the 2006 FX. If I purchased the '03, would swapping those in be a problem?

Oh, and both are AWD which is absolutely necessary up here.

I really value you guys' opinion more so than mine (or my wife's who just thinks they're all "pretty".)

I will post links to both once I get my post count to 10!

I was really surprised how reliable these FX's are rated. Really high up there in any bracket!

Welcome to the Scene! You certainly can swap the tails, if you can find a set. Mine came red, but are no longer such, as is the case with many around here.

Edit: Damn cut and paste.

Welcome to IS! Swapping the tailights it easy to do. You should go for the 06+ because of the complete interior and minor exterior changes.

Thanks for the replies, guys! I was guessing you guys were gonna say the 06 haha.

FWIW, the '03 is 3 grand cheaper than the '06. 15.7 vs 18.9--- Still a good idea to go for the '06?

Welcome to :iS2: I would go with >06 if you're looking into 1st Gen FX for a more updated interior.

Id go for the 03. 3 grand cheaper and 20k miles lower. Especially since you know it's been taken care of. It's nice to have the updated look of an 06+ but the 03 seems like a better deal to me.....

And as far as the tech package, I never used the stock Navigation (pain in the butt since its not touchscreen). The only thing that was be cool was the keyless go.

welcome. take it slow and spend the time in searching for a better condition 2006+, it's a keeper.

Paying 3K more for the 06 is worth having the sport headlights, tails, grille, aluminum roof rails and the updated interior. This shouldn't even be hard decision. :good: :smile (2): But doing a search you can find the color and interior colors of your choice. Check Carmax's inventory nationwide for starters.

^ dont forget the bigger front dual piston float calipers and bigger rotors, newer ODO cluster, color screen with standard backup camera and 07+ has pre-wire ipod.
