I was of the understanding that you shouldn't mix different weight oils...or is that just a myth?

I think I just found the answer online! It looks as though topping up with different weight oils (in my case 5W50 to top up 5W30, currently in my engine) is fine! Whew, simple things can get so complicated to the uninitiated! Thanks Vlad and everyone else for helping solve this problem. Regards, Mitch
