2006 FX35
Hi all,
Just got a vanity plate for my 2006 FX35, that i picked up a month ago. I can't get one of the plate screws out. It appears from the search function, i have to drill out and and a well nut. Is this like an average Joe (or Jane in this case) job? I have some basic skills and own a Dremel and and Makita drill.

imo if you know how to change brakes then you can easily perform this task

change brakes? nope, i have never done that, but i am a handy chick. What do you drill with? a regular wood bit? or a spade bit?

Wood drill bit may be too soft to drill into the metal nut. Plus if you successfully drilled it out, your wood bit most likely can be trashed. Get a set of bit similar to this. Use one that is a little larger then the hole hole on the trunk to drill out the spinning nut, then use the proper bit size for the rubber well nut. You don't want the hole to be too big that the nut spins freely. Just large enough that it a snug fit. Perhaps, use the same bit that you use to drill out the spinning nut and just wiggle drill to enlarge the hole enough that well nut is snug fit into the hole.

Ok, thanks LA, I got 1/4" well expansion nuts and I may give it a try tomorrow. It's nerve wracking drilling into you car! I may just trash a wood bit and buy a New one later.
