newb questions.....

Hey there and welcome to the community!

If however, you will not be lowering your FX then theoretically you can go with any width, offset wheel and tire combination you wish and will not have to worry about any rubbing issues with normal driving.

I appears to be so close on the inside, with the stock setup. You don't think it will rub?

How close are yours, on the inside??? thanks.

most wheel fitments here have space inside, when trying to go with max fitment then this is room that can be used too. most tire shops will recommend "safe " fitments, stuff that fits comfortably & surely without issues or chances of issues...

I ordered a set of 22X11 for my rears with a 315/30 & spec'd it as +48 offset... this should put me at very close inside & out & should be the largest wheel/tire that can fit (hopefully). I did a whole lot of measuring & checking out all the wheel combo's I could find to figure out what might fit, crawled under a buch of FX's to make this determination.... I've got all my fingers & toes crossed though that they will indeed fit, bit of a gamble, nothing that large has been done on the stock body that I know of...

if you want safe then yeah, look at what's been done & mimick that, def would suck to have a new set of wheels delivered to you that don't fit (fingers crossed) doc's is a good guide as to extreme fitment & I used his specs too in helping determine what I think might fit...

best advice, either copy a known good fitment or really learn & understand everything to be able to make your own determinations outside of the norm, anything inbetween can be a disaster...

LOL.... holly s#%@ bro.... I'm not laughing at you at all. I think it's great you're trying that. I'm just amazed at the size you're trying. It makes me feel a hell of a lot better. I can't believe you're trying 315's. WOW! I'll cross my toes and fingers for you, as well. So, in your opinion, you'd say I'm safe with a 20x10 295R45??? (I guess It's obvious you'd say I'm safe, based on what you're doing) hehe.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your statement about most tire shops recommending "safe" fitments. I went to a local tunner shop in my area (they do tons of work and sponsor shows in diff. areas) and they said they wouldn't even order me a set of mounted 295's for that, cause they guarantee everything they sell. They said today, after me driving them nuts (I guess?) with my reluctance to go any more narrow than a 295, that they refuse to order that size for me, and the best they will do is order me rims with no tires and me get the tires myself. I even know these people. I'm like WTF!! This place does crazy mods and they refuse to order 295's for my fx.

Anywho, I think I'm going to just order premounted 20x10's with 295R45's from one of these venders I've talked to online. I'll take it up to my local place and show them how they were wrong. I can't believe I'm trying to spend money at their shop, and they're turning me down. I also want window tint and HID fogs. They're losing some biz over getting frustrated with me demanding 295's will fit. (hope I'm right.... ha)

Let me ask you this, in your opinion, what offset would you think would be best for what I want? What is offset on the stock 18's??

You're going with a +45... I would assume you're going to have some tire sticking out beyond the wheel well/fender? Doc is running a +35 with 305's and he's right at the edge, if you look at those pics he has posted, right down the side of his whip.

Let me know what you think about my offset and setup.

Thanks, Brian

I'm going +48, with this large wheel every mm counts  iforged wouldn't even build them for me without a waiver, everyone wants to cover there ass & not have a bad fitment blamed on them

you didn't mention what offset your getting, a 20x10 w 295/45's def can fit, but depending on the offset... maybe around 40mm would be my choice in the rear, 5mm les out than docs, might help you avoid much cutting...

mine should stick out no more than docs, my tire is 10mm wider, but set in 13mm more than his... plus with 11" rim maybe a bit less bulge, with any luck I may stick out slightly less than his...

stock offset is +40 on an 8" rim...

now as far as fronts, def check with doc & see what he's running, I think he's 10" +35 all around? don't know how much room there is to play there, can't say if +40 is to much for the fronts, I'm only going 9.5" in my fronts w 265/35-22's, staggered, another reason to cross all those fingers & toes w/awd:tongue:

I don't want to be negative in a anyway but aren't you really pushing it on the inside? You're in 13 more than doc and his has got to be really close.

I'm looking at a 20x10 w 295/45's with a 40mm offset. I was going to do that all the way around, or don't you think I can do that in the front? Maybe that's why my shop doesn't want to mess with it????

When are you expecting yours to come in?

You said "might help you avoid much cutting" what cutting am I going to have to do and where? Let me know what's up here. I'm so anxious to order wheels, but I'm certainly not going to jump the gun and order something that gets me in over my head.

I may have a problem up front with 295's? I thought doc had 305's all the way around? I could be mistaken.

I'm learning a lot, but It's still frustrating. Guess it's all part of the fun :ehh:

yeah, I'm really pushing the inside, but doc is not really too close inside from what I can tell. I have a local fx with a 10" wide rim at +50 offset & theres still a little clearance there, docs only at +35. the closest thing to rub will be the suspension bolt for the trail arm which can be trimmed slightly, theres also a chance I can modify slightly for more inner clearance if that became necissary. also, as a last resort wheels can always be spaced out, but they sure can't be spaced in, so if there was any room for error, it's better to be inside than out. honestly from my measurements I think it will fit fine, probably more worried about the staggered w/awd issues than them actually fitting:smile:

when I say might avoid cutting, I'm talking about the outer lip, if it rubs the tire, doc had to cut quite a bit, if your not lowering (you will:tongue:) then that's less of a concern...

not saying you'll have a problem with 295's up front, just saying that at +40 you might, I don't know. docs at +35 on a 10" rim, don't know how much clearance there is there to go to +40, haven't researched the fronts as much cause I had no intentions of going with anything as large as my rears there...

last I heard, iforged told me middle of feb, that was a month ago... who knows, they might be here tommorow or still be weeks out, they don't really tell me much, I'm going to call tommorow & see what they have to say...

just called iforged, wheels are out getting semi gloss black finish applied, shouldn't be too much longer for me to have them...

Dr. 2K, I need the story on your front fitment. You're running 305's with +35 os. I can't imagine that not hitting on the inside at the spring/shock tower?? It seems like there's not much room with my stock 265's. Let me know if you first changed something with your suspension that gave you more space on the inside front.

I'm soooooooooo close to pulling the trigger on this set of wheels, but just worried I'm going to rub in the front inside.

If you really wanted to entertain me, you could even take a close up photo of the inside with your wheel turned all the way.:biggrin::biggrin:

Sorry if I'm a pain in the ass, but I'm just getting so many conflicting stories.

TIA!

Dr2k hasnt done anything to the suspension.....he did recently replace the shocks with KYB's but that wouldnt change anything.

Really? that's great news but it's so hard to believe. I must have a warped picture in my head of how much room wider wheels take up. I do realize that with a 10 inch rim you get less sidewall bulge and save space there, but man, it still just seems so tight in there to me.

I'd love to see a pic of Doc's front wheel, at the inside. I'm not in anyway doubting what you say, I'm just am afraid to order these wheels, b/c I'll be stuck with them, if they don't work. Or I'll be doing mods I said I wouldn't be doing. :ever:

Doc, where the hell are you, bro????

I'm about ready to just go ahead and order. You guys have helped me plenty. I've learned a lot on this site. Based on what most are saying on here, I can run the 295's without any mods. I think I'm going to order them with a +40 offset. Doc's is +35 but he's wider than me by 10 mm on the tire. If his work, then mine should work. :k:
