Newb question on the heated seats

Well Fall is here and it is 40 degrees today and raining. Seemed like a good time to try out the heated seats on my FX35 which I've had for a month. Quick question, understand the hi lo option where the longer line indicates high. Seems like when you toggle to hi that the light should indicate that it is on hi, but there seems to be only one light indicating usage of the heated seats. Am I missing something or am I correct.

On a related note, these seat heaters stink. I traded an 05 Acura TL for me FX35 and the heated seats in the TL seemed to be much better. Still enjoying the FX though...

Yep - one light. I haven't noticed any lack of heating - they seem to work just fine for me. What is it that you don't like about the heaters? Time to warm up? Heating the whole seat?

mine are weird, they get warm, then seem to dissipate for a while... then, after a while that I forgot they were even on, they'd get pretty hot again & remind me there on:smile:

Jumbo-

Maybe its that it isn't that cold outside (40 degrees), but that don't seem overly warm. The ones on the Acura I had, got so warm on hi that you would have to set it to the low position. They would also only stay on hi for 15 minutes.

It's not that I don't like them, I'll be appreciative to have them come this winter. It's simply a matter of perspective and past experiences with other cars.

I hear you.

In the end, a heating element is basically a coil of wire that takes current in, acts like a big resistor, and puts heat out. The size of the heating elements, the input voltage and the assoicated fuses (and surrounding seat materials) are most certainly different for every car. Guess relatively speaking the FX seat heaters are weaker than the model of Acura with which you had experience.

I live in Texas so my seat heating experience will be but a fraction of yours...

I have never used the heated seats for my own derriere.
the only time they turn on is when it's the passenger side and there's a girl sitting there. lol I was actually going to convert the driver's side heated seat switch to my NAV cutoff switch to be able to type stuff in while driving....but ended up not dfoing that and just mounting it below the wheel

I've heard a few complaints about the seat heaters in Infiniti cars in general. I don't think they heat up as much as some other manufacturers do. I know the warmers in my buddies Taureg get a lot hotter than in my 05 FX.
