Hello all. I just purchased my 2nd FX35. A 2008. Similar to my 2006 which I just returned via leaase, the stereo system is not the best. I am wondering two things. If I update my speaker system, must I replace the Bose subwoofer or can it be reused? Second, what speakers have others found to be the best for replacement?

how is bose not good?

im runnin the bose ones myself with 2 12" JL w3 subs and it sounds fine
if you are going to change them out go with alpine in my opinion

and also WELCOME TO THE SCENE

Good choice...08 FX here also...the 09 front i'm starting to like...and usually the Bose speakers don't sound as nice with radio signal...sounds better quality with CDs or iPods.

Bose is decent stuff but certainly not great by any means. The Harmon Kardon WOW system in my wife's Subaru Outback blows the Bose out of the water.

I like the Infinity Reference series... and welcome!

Infinity Reference 3002, 3012, etc all fit the front speakers, but 3052 has too large of a magnet and will not fit. I am having to replace my 3052's with my original 3002's (or 3012's I don't remember) because I can't put the speaker screen all the way down.

As for the doors, mine are still stock but I wanted to go with Infinity Kappa 6.5" sometime.

Bose = Blows

Yeah, why is it that their car audio stuff sucks balls? I have had a number of cars with Bose units in them and not one of them has sounded that good. Their home audio isn't bad and those noise canceling headphones are the best things I've ever put on my ears, but their car stuff is poop. Anyone know if their car audio is outsourced or something? Probably made by the same company that makes those in-house waterfalls you can buy at Walgreens for $10.

To answer your original question... you can keep the stock Bose subwoofer in the trunk. It has its own amplifier. It is actually 2 small woofers powered by 1 small amp enclosed in that plastic thing back there.
