We bought a 2011 FX35 with 30K miles, have a few newbie questions. A quick search didn't show results for these but I'm sure they've been discussed before so if you guys can point me to the right thread or help in any way I'd appreciate it.

  1. Can I get lighted Infiniti door sills for the front doors, dealer or aftermarket? I want to say I've seen them before, but the SS plates on my FX are not lit, they just have the Infiniti name.
  2. Does anyone have any details or a layout of the Bose speaker system? I'd like to potentially replace those but need to understand what's there first.
  3. What do you guys use to clean and treat the dash? I want something that's not too greasy or oily, have used Aerospace 303 in the past but not sure what the best option for this material is.

I'm very happy with the car so far, but can tell that there is ALOT going on with the computer system so I think I'm gonna opt for the extended warranty from Infiniti when that time comes. For now I'd like to get some input on the above items so I can start looking at those.

Thanks

You can order the lighted door sills from the parts department. For Interior and Leather care I only use Zaino products. Do not use Armor All on the non leather surfaces. It dries the hell out of them. You can't go wrong with Lexol either. I am not too sure about the 2nd Gen Bose System Layout, wait for Handy Andy to Chime in.

It's similar to the 1st gen, same speaker locations. So you've got dash speakers, center channel, front and rear door speakers, rear pillar speakers, and sub on the spare tire. Speaker sizes are slightly different - 1st gen takes 3.5" dash speakers, but 2nd gen needs smaller ones, etc. But the general layout is similar.

And from the other forum

"The front door speakers are 2 ohm and each have their own amp. The three dash speakers are 4 ohm and they each have their own amps. The two rear door speakers are 2 ohm and each have their own amp. The two rear pillar speakers are actually wired in parallel, are 4 ohm each and have yet another amp."

By own amp, he's referring to channels in the Bose amp, there are not multiple separate amplifiers.

Thanks for the info guyes, quick follow up question:

Is there a way to completely disable the XM Radio? I don't use XM and am wondering if I can remove it from the options that the source menu cycles thru.

Can you unplug the antennae in the rear? On my 1st gen, I have satellite radio, but I don't subscribe. I run an aux input through that hook up. Normally, I have to cycle through the Sat radio to get to the aux controls by pushing the SAT button. But after I unplugged the antennae, it goes straight to the aux without cycling through the Sat radio. Not sure if that would work for you, but it might.
