New owner checking in

Hi all,
I've wanted one of these since the first one I saw. Finally got mine, a Red '03 FX45. I LOVE it!!! I'm the second owner of this 43K mile beauty. Everything seems to work like it's supposed to, except the fuel gauge. The manual lists the tank capacity as 23.8 gallons, but I've never been able to get more than about 17 gallons into it. The last time, I let it go until the low fuel light came on and I still only got 17.236 gallons into it. Anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug

I never really fill it all the way, so... can't help you there with the fuel tank question

there have been issues with the fuel float... reading inaccurate... it may not be as empty as you think it is when your trying to fill it, also, the light comes on early, but the gauge will actually go below the bottom mark when it is really empty so that too may make you think it's emptier than it really is...

welcome to IS :) the fx red is rare & looks real nice, congrats!

Welcome to :iS:
Great color to go with a great Screen name :top:

Wow! I only posted this morning. Thanks for all the welcome notes and suggestions. It's nice to find a good resource for sharing the experience of other owners.
First, I think I'll try running a bit deeper into the tank, maybe with a spare fiver in the back. Sounds like I really need to find out where the bottom of the tank is. If it's really off by 5 or 6 gallons then the tank sensors are next. Thanks for the input.
Yup, it had to be RED!
Cheers!

Welcome to the Scene from one 45'r to another!

With the fuel sensor, it is a warranty TBS issue so just take it to the dealer and they should be able to replace that for you under warranty. Had mine replaced the first year.
