Hello All,

I just picked up a 2005 FX45 with 156k a couple weeks ago. Interior is a 9, exterior is 7/8 but the motor smokes very badly - blue smoke. But i got it for a really good price so I am looking at putting in another motor and need advice/opinion. Replace the motor on my 2005 FX45 and have a choice of a 2006 engine with 123k and a 6 month warranty from LKQ or a pre 2006 motor with less than 100k from car-parts.com vendor but with a 90 day warranty? Pre 2006 motors are a couple hundred dollars cheaper including shipping.

What you guys think? Are the 2006 motors better than the 2003 - 2005 motors?

Welcome. I think there are no major differences. Mine still runs strong. It's a 2004.

I would go with a 2006 Engine just because it a newer engine and I like the front fed intake. I'm not sure of there anything specifically better.
