Hi there,

I’m a new member, having just bought a black obsidian 2013 FX50S in exceptional condition and with very few miles. I’m new to the FX, after previously owning/adoring a 2007 G35 coupe 6-speed. I’ve already commissioned the installation of a cold air intake, a BC Racing coil over suspension kit and some 3M to cover over some of the chrome trim (around windows, door handles and badging).

I’d really like to install an Aero kit, but have been advised by my local dealership that OEM parts have been discontinued. Does anybody have any suggestions for where I can find a used kit or an after market facsimile?

I also plan to install 22” wheels, but haven’t found any that have motivated me to action.

Exhaust will be after that, but have only found information online regarding the Borla and Arc; any suggestions would be welcome. I’m interested in performance improvement and throat without attracting complaints from my neighbors.

Lastly, any suggestions to improve overall performance beyond the above would be really appreciated!

Finding an OEM aero kit was quite the scavenger hunt for me. I managed to piece a kit together last year. Using the part numbers found in the threads I found some parts at my local dealer (they found some parts at a warehouse somewhere). That was just luck. I found other new parts on EBay. Had to have some parts painted to match my color and the whole package, paint and install was SUPER expensive. It’s probably not worth the money or time to get it done but once I started down that road I was determined to finish. There are also overseas aftermarket kits similar to the OEM one but I read that the fit is questionable. I think the OEM aero kit looks the best but it cost me.

After failing to find an aero I went with a Larte Design QX70 LR3 tuning kit, which was manufactured in Germany. It took about 12 weeks to get it. I brought the kit to a local body shop who installed it. It came pre-painted to factory color.

The Larte website says 9 hours to install, but the local shop said it took more like 25. Unfortunately, there were no instructions and there were a couple of elements of the install that required me to contact Larte for guidance. Customer service was excellent.

The shop said that the fit and finish was very good, unlike other body kits that they’ve installed.

I’m just waiting for custom wheels from Forgestar. I went with F14 super deep concave in bronze burst, which should arrive hopefully next week. We had to go with a custom offset because the kit comes with fender flares. After measurements, we calculated that the wheels needed to come out 2” to be flush with the flare. I went with Toyo PROXES ST3 22x10.5 +20mm offset with 295/35R22 tires all the way around. I ordered them through MOTORSPORTS LA INC, which was an absolutely great decision. They’ve been awesome to work with throughout the whole process.

I still want to change out the exhaust and do some custom work with the lights, but will likely wait until spring.

I’ll post some photos once the whole thing comes together. I’m starting to get excited and am looking forward to getting it back on the street.

Ok so you’ll have an entirely different look after you’re done. You’re really going all-in.
As far as the exhaust I have the Borla cat back and it’s about the same as stock. Maybe just a little more growl. I’d like it more aggressive.

Yep; I went for it. Because I had gotten a relatively good deal on it, I figured I had some room to invest. Who knows if it will bring a dividend, but it’s been a good learning experience. I’ve not done anything like it before.

Thanks for your comments regarding the Borla Catback. I’ve not experienced it directly, but someone at the shop that did the mechanical modifications who also was an FX enthusiast, and she commented that she found it to be too loud. She was running the 5 liter. Is that what you have?

22x10.5
some random exhaust off a g35. I just found some oem aero kit online, I'm going to call them tomorrow to confirm if they're available. 20220817_164755.jpg

That looks bad ass. Unfortunately the website I found don't have any in stock. looks like the only place that sells them is aliexpress.
