New Member From Vietnam

Been following this forum for a long time, but this is my first post, so please correct me if I mistake something. As mentioned, I'm living in Vietnam and having a gold 2004 FX35. I bought it in 8/2010 for 58k $ and really satisfied with its performance, such a great car. I hope everyone would welcome me and would really like to meet any Vietnamese here. I'll post pics when I obtain enough posts.

Welcome to the site.
I am a Vietnamese too. Your English is very good and better then mine even I have been in US for more than 30 years ...LOL.

@easy_goer: Thanks for your compliment, I can use grammar well but I may not talk so fluently.
@zebra555: I'll post them ASAP. BTW, my FX is inspired by yours, the halos and the body paint:smile (2):

Welcome to the Scene! It's great to see the international community spread to other parts of SE Asia!

Welcome! Glad to have you here.
Your thread has me wanting to book a trip to Vietnam (along with a one way boat ride for the FX)

Saigon was very fun. I was jus there last Christmas n will be there again this November. Since the traffic there is so congested, i think u are more into cosmetic than performance mods right? I seen quite a few rim shops there, how bout getting a set of 22inch or perhaps 24inch? In my opinion it will give ur FX that WOW FACTOR especially in VN. Another opinion is adding an ipad for some in car entertainment, u can even karaoke with it. And i already know how nguoi viet thich hat karaoke...lol.

You're right, focusing on performance in VN would be a waste, there are nothing but motorbikes all over the place. For the wheel change, think I'll need to give up, my FX with 18" has been running roughly, adding a set of 22" or 24" would be a pain for me and my family because the streets, except the highways, in VN are usually filled with small holes and big holes. For more, with such big wheels, I would welcome more police as changing car original design is against the law in VN. The karaoke system is not something I want, my family prefers soft music to singing music, and the time sitting on the car is usually less than an hour, places in Saigon are pretty close to each other:). I'm now working on the black grille and also having trouble: Do you need to remove all the chrome paint and then apply the new paint or simply put on the new paint? The workshop tells me they need to remove all the chrome paint and it would take a pretty long time.

welcome. would love to see some photo with vietnam land mark.
is it hard to find mechanic that can work on infiniti?

You really don't have to remove all the chrome, but you need to at the very least scruff them up so that they're not shiny. For the DYI we do it here in the States, we use Krylon Fusion spray paint. This paint bonds to plastic very well. Bulldog primer is also a good way to go too. Scruff enough of the chrome off , Bulldog primer, coats of paint, and clear coat.

OK, I'll show you some more, beside those taken in Saigon I've posted in the link above, I have pics taken with my 2nd ride, 08 Lexus LS460L in Vung Tau, 70 miles to the South of Saigon. This is where my family usually goes for holiday, not too far from Saigon and has everything at hand, beaches, 5- star hotels, bars, shopping mall...
For the mechanic, it's not hard to find those who can work on Infiniti and other luxury brands, from maintenance to modding. But the best thing is to bring your car to garages as rarely as possible because the mechanics here are not always careful.

That's all the photos I have right now:), hope you will enjoy

@la_fx35: That's what they told me, they needed to make it blurred at first. Think I'll have to reconsider this since it may take a lot of time.

I went back in 96' so I've heard it is very different now. I usually go to saigon, then nha trang, then da lat, still ahve same family in nha trang, they have a house close to the beach. Man you pictures make me wanna go so bad!

Wow u must be rich to own 2 luxury vehicles in VN. Knowing that cars there cost 2 to 3 times as much as it does in united states and must be paid in full at the time of purchase too. I know bc i went with my cousin to buy an Audi A7 last december it was $183,000USD.

@05fx35: In 96, more than 10 years ago, you should come back sometime, VN now is really different from it in 96. Saigon, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Da Lat are definite places to visit in Southern Vietnam, they've been oriented to be the best travel spots.
@swagfx: In my area which may not be a cheap place to live, most of the families have at least 1 to 3 cars, several families own 5-7 cars, including Bentley, Maybach, Rols - Royce,... so I don't know if I'm rich or not, I just feel lucky to have my 2 cars. The Lexus I bought it for 170k$ in 2011 and the FX was 58k$ in 2010, both needed to pay in cash because Vietnamese people don't like credit cards so much. In Vietnam, a brand - new Audi A7 is as you said, around 170-180k$, a 2013 FX35 can cost up to 150k$ and a LS460L 2013 is now for sale for 250k$.
