New Member and Owner of White '05 FX35!

Hi!

Just joined the forum! I just bought a white '05 FX35 in excellent condition with 60k miles and only one previous owner! Will post pics soon!

I'm hoping to learn alot from the members on the forum!

I did have a couple questions though:

1. What kind of mileage do you all get? Highway and city
2. How often do you change the engine oil, and what brand oil do you use, and what brand filter?
3. I was thinking of buying some zaino z-12 for the windows. Is it safe to use on the back windows (they're factory tinted)? Can I use it on both the inside and outside?

I had a few more questions but I can't seem to remember :)
 
Welcome to the site and congrats on your FX.

I change my oil and filter every 3,500 miles , I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil 5w30, and I use the OEM filter.

As to using Z12 on factory tint, I believe that is okay, Zaino just says not for use on aftermarket window tint, coated glass, painted or plastic surfaces.
 
If you are already concerned with mileage you might be in trouble. especially if fuel rises in price as some analysts are predicting in the next month.

the fx is a thirsty sucker, and if you pump premium as i do, its expensive.

Thanks! I was planning on going with Mobil 1 too. Do you use the standard Mobil 1 Oil or one of the specialty lines (Extended performance, Advanced fuel economy, high mileage, or Mobil Super)?

I'm not concerned with mileage from an affordability aspect, I just wanted to know for comparison's sake and to get an idea of how the engine is running compared to everyone else's. :smile (2):

I drove from New York (where I bought the car) to Massachusetts yesterday night, and was getting 22mpg. I'm guessing that's decent for an fx?:thinking:

okay, sorry didnt mean to sounnd like an ass but so many people say "well gas mileage is shit on the fx, or g35". you own a nice car, want to drive it? you gotta pay to play.

22mpg seems good. you must have been babying it.

No worries at all brotha! I was driving at 80mph. I did take it up to around 100mph for a bit but then stopped cuz I was seeing cops all over the place :-)

I use the standard Mobil 1 synthetic.
 
Welcome!!! I get about 22-23 mostly highway but I baby as well. This car is new to me as well but plan on using Mobil 1, ssomething I use on all my cars.
 
Thanks! I got the oil changed today, used Mobil 1 synthetic. I also changed the air filter and put it in a Fram one (the shop wanted to charge me 25 dollar to swap them out, so I did it myself).

I also had another question to ask:

- How much would a new stock OEM exhaust cost? What exhaust would you all suggest? Stillen?
 
Congrats on the buy

You can get decent MPG out of the FX. I get 18-19 city and and about 23-26 highway and i am supercharged.

A new stock OEM exhaust will cost you a lot. What is wrong with your current exhaust?

My car currently has a stillen and i love it!!!! it is loud though.
