New GTR or 370Z + FJ or wait

It seems that your choice in vehicles vary between performance and visual appeal.

The GTR option in my opinion would be based on pure performance. Its specs are impressive, but its sex appeal is lacking. When a friend brought his GTR over to the house, my daughter put it perfectly. "It looks like any other car".

The 370+DD is not a bad option, but again, what is your ultimate goal? If you are in a place where you want to feel good while driving, then the question would be "Will it last with a 370?

I bought my son a 06' 350 before he had gotten his license so I could drive it for a year while he was learning. Sure, it was fun for a while, but in my view, its a novelty that will wear if performance is your goal.

I like your 3rd choice. Its sexy and it performs.

But I'm an old guy so my views may be different and or too practical! I'm an old Porshe guy now looking at an R8.

Not too concerned about how a car really looks on this one. I like the design of the GTR but I agree that it is certainly not pretty. More purposefully aggressive. It just looks like a G coupe after many years of steroid abuse. Compare that to the S5 which has to be one of the most stunning designs of recent memory, and they are night and day in that department I agree.

The idea of the 370Z + FJ just came to me more because of the fact that I thought it might be better to go and get a vehicle that would offer me something totally different (FJ), and then settle for a lesser performance car (370Z) and yet still spend the same amount of cash as the S5. However after pondering this a lot yesterday it has been removed from the list of options.

At the moment it's between sitting tight OR cancel my Audi and get the GTR. Right now I'm leaning towards staying put with the S5.

BTW, I'm also a Pcar nut. And I love Audi. But where they pulled that price for the R8 from nobody knows...

I'll soon be in the market for an '09 Audi TT 2.0T quattro, possibly TTS... so I'd say I'm 40% for the RS5 and 60% for...

Frank you and I are practically thinking the same way.. Did you visit APR and MTM sites already? I might get one next year to take it to Turkey eventually..

Pupp, wait for your S5. Amazing car.. Loved it at the first sight, much like FX. GT-R is an awesome car as well but it'll really be an impulse buy for you.. Plus, you don't sound like a guy who likes to play with all that electronics in the GT-R..

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards doing right now. But I hate to admit that I'm pretty damn impatient at times.

It depends on what you are looking for in a sports car. Before you get caught up in the whole GTR idea read around on what many owners have said about the GTR. Many hardcore enthusiast have lackluster reviews for it. Power is not a problem but the transmission and feedback that the car gives you has taken a lot of fun out of the experience for many. If you are a hands on type of person who likes a lot of feedback from your car then the GTR may not be the best choice.

The GTR is a head turner. Even more so than a S5, but it's an apples to orange comparission. If this car is going to be your daily driver then the S5 will be the much better choice. However if this is going to be your weekend car and you like balls to the wall power then go for the GTR. I think you'll regret the 370Z/FJ idea every time you see a S5 or GTR on the road.

Wait for the Audi...the S5 is one of the sexiest cars out there... Plus there will be a ton you can do to it mod wise...wait it out...

Yeah I made a decision guys (which if you've seen my posts about H&R vs Eibach springs doesn't mean very much but...) that I'm going to wait for the Audi. Thanks for all the opinions and comments. I'll post a pic when it arrives sometime in 2010.

But have you made a spring decision? lol

haha, reminds me how back in the day I was disputing what exhaust to get. i was the first to actually document the behavior of the Nismo on the 35, worried that I would lose any of the needed torque on the low end (which it didnt . . big smile back then). Now that its tried & tested by so many, there are no questions, & so many have bought it & taken it to the grinder in confidence. I'm actually curious as to us getting more H&R feedback, so just like the Nismo, the choice for springs becomes easier with more chiming in on it . . but since you're a Porsche guy, I doubt that a bit rougher ride is gonna bother you all that much. All that said . . sometimes the gain in taking a larger risk while not knowing, makes the result even more rewarding . . . Eibach

Dave you're forgetting he lives in Chicago, not Cali. He'll probably like the ride of the Eibachs a lot, on the highway, but when it comes to going into the financial district with all it's potholes and salt in the winter I think Eibachs would be a headache..

Anyways, try it out man.. If you like it, keep it.. If you don't, there's always somebody here that'd grab those Eibachs off your hand..

Tough choice.
Like I said, If it were me, dealing with bad roads, H&R would be the choice . . but the more I hear about it, I would hate to sacrifice the handling side, & flat braking character of the Eibachs. Trust me, I deal with some not so great roads either from time to time . . but I learn where the bumps are are, & go around the biggees. For the greater part, we also dont have potholes over here. Just the thought of that makes me cringe.
