Hi all.

After considerable searching, I picked up a black on graphite 2011 FX50S the morning after it was traded in on a new Lexus in Knoxville TN. The story of my hunt, near buys and final acquisition of the car is too long to go into without beers, but suffice it to say I found the exact car I wanted with Low-ish miles 70K at an incredible price bc the dealer didn’t have to do anything to get it sold. Lexus Knoxville was amazing - I bought the car for 16500 and their body shop painted the hood and front bumper, took out one ding in the car, changed the brake fluid, put on new Michelin’s and aligned it for right at 20k out the door not including TTT. Oh yeah, they also refinished the wheels in a gray color for me. Last week, I got 3M clear bra on the full front and mirrors to keep the second chance at life black paint perfect. The 50 is amazing. I got rid of an ISF for the 50 because I needed more room for my kids baseball gear, but amazingly, I stopped missing the ISF almost immediately because of just how good the FX is. This is an incredible vehicle for its time and the styling is so unique. I’m absolutely loving this car and feel priveledged every time I drive it, especially knowing the deal that I got it for. As I pulled up next to a Land Rover today, I laughed to myself at what that guy paid for his car vs my $20k super-suv and could not have been happier...

Thanks all!

I have a 2004 G35 6MT as well in excellent shape and I remember when the FX50 first came out I test drove the exact FX that I have now and loved it, but at the time I didn’t need an SUV nor was I excited about the 65k price tag. I have the original sticker for my FX which is just under 66k. That, and my G was my dream car at the time, and still love it to this day. BUT, I filed away the 50 as a car I’d like to own someday.

I don’t know who owned my FX before, but the drivers seat is almost perfect and in the music box there is a lot of Enya and Phantom of the Opera etc. I’m assuming whoever owned it was slight of build because the drivers bolster is still almost perfect vs many of the used ones out there. I’ve already bought the new drivers foam in case I ever need to replace it back to perfect. To be honest, if the FX keeps going, I expect to drive it to 150k plus very happily. My kids love the quilted seats. The first day they told me they would sleep back there if they could. I’m honestly not sure the back seats in my FX were ever used, nor the passenger seat.

So, between my 2011 ISF and the FX50, I’ve now owned two of the rarest, and most special IMO cars out there. Not sure what the build number of FX50s was, but there were only about 5000 ISFs sold in the states. Based on my experience finding my FX, I can’t imagine there were too many more. But, it is encouraging that almost all of the FXs for sale have 150k+ miles on them and they still look good, which means both the mechanicals and the cosmetics wear well on this car.

If there were a more user friendly way to post pics than by url I’d love to upload some photos.

Hey there. Nice read.
You can upload here on site. Play around with the menus. It’s in there

Aha! Figured it out....

The refinishing and painting of the wheels was perfect and gave a bit of an updated look to them.

I’d like to next swap out the rotors and pads for some Stop Tech slotted and the New Hawk pads to complete the build.

Also, I’ve been trying to find an oem cover. Anyone know where these can be found? I ordered one for a QX assuming that it should be good enough but the vendor canceled the order. Not sure if it’s bc the cover no longer exists or because they wouldn’t sell me an incorrect part number.

Yea they discontinued that. You are better off ordering from a 3rd party like coverking or something.
