Hey guys,

New to the forums and all. About 2 weeks ago I upgraded and a snagged myself a black 2012 fx35 AWD w/tech package (27,500 miles) Since this is my first car that I plan on keeping for at least 5 years (work related), I obviously want to make my own/customize it.

Any recommendations to this list?

1. All chrome to be converted to high gloss black. (Grill will be combination of matte/high gloss).
2. Smoked taillights/painted headlights.
3. ARK Grip Exhaust (this vs stillens???)
4. Double Halo Headlights
5. 20" rims (haven't decided on anything, looked at 22". But eh)

Also, I have scheduled an appointment for next Saturday to get my TCM/ECM updated. (Not liking the way it is shifting, want to try the update I see posted) Also my 30k service is coming up soon, since I live in Chicago, it carries an extreme service schedule. (Should I get all recommendations done? About $1k in service)

Any other help/recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Depends, what you want to get into first: Performance or Looks? AS far as your service intervals are concerned, I would go to a Nissan/Infiniti Master Tech who has his own Independent shop such as: hillsgarage.net in my area. Better prices, more attention to detail and only charge you for work that's necessary. 20" rims for summer, 18" for when it snows. Stillen exhausts are known for having rust issues, would not recommend Stillen for all the salt and snow you see in Chicago. You might want to contact/meet up with some of the Chicago members here in person (PMG, HANDY ANDY).

Thanks!

Since this is primarily a work car to haul around my products, looks then performance. Will have to look around/ask the Chicago members where they recommend taking it. (What are their forum names?)

Will want to get those first service interval done soon. I have bumper to bumper for 6yr, 100k so almost everything will be covered.

Does Stillen even make an exhaust for the 2nd gen? I thought the only options were ARK or Invidia. Stillen's did have rust issues on their 1st gen exhausts, just surface rust, but for the price premium they charged, it shouldn't happen.

On the 2nd gen, i would consider 22"s, the design of the car makes wheels look smaller for some reason. 22"s look normal on 2nd gens while they look a little big on the 1st gen. When I see pictures of 2nd gens on 20"s, they always look like 18"s and a little undersized. If you get a wheel with a lip, definitely get 22"s because the face will be basically the same size as a 20" wheel with full face.

Definitely get the front OEM spoiler, it's the best bang for your buck in the looks department.

Gee50fx are you talking about the front aero kit? Can I just go into my local infiniti to pick it up? I saw a "front aero kit" from perry infiniti. Was this what you are talking about?

I was reading through the forums and it says he's no longer on here. That being said, I looked on eBay and there's full packages.

So assuming I can go to my Local dealer and have them order it?

Found it on Sewellparts,

Yes that is correct, just make sure it is the same colour code as yours.
I think you should be able to get it a bit cheaper though. There are a few guys that have them on their 2nd Gens in the Chicago area.

If you care about looks, do what others have said and add the Aero kit to the list. (I recommend doing the entire kit, because it looks better than just the front IMO although many have ordered just the front)

The blacked out lights etc. have been done on a black 2nd gen tons of times, just take time to look around the site for pics.

If you want to get wheels, I would do 22's. 20's still look pretty small on the 2nd gens because of the way they are designed, unless you go pretty wide with beefy tires. (20x10" wide +) and an aggressive offset. This way you can still have some tire on there for the added comfort. However, 22's aren't that much bigger and you can still fit beefy tires on there that won't affect the ride quality. the 21's on the FX50 still look pretty "small" as far as rims go.

As for exhausts, ARK of course is a great option but you can always go custom.

I'm not sure if this is the same one? It doesn't specify, but it is black, and a good price.

That's not the OEM aero lip, that's an aftermarket one. I think there are a couple members who are running this one. I personally think it looks horrible and doesn't flow with the lines of the car well...

^ that's what you're looking for. They've generally gotten cheaper over the years. When I got my full Aero it cost me upwards of $2.5k for the front, back, and sides.

you may also be able to find knockoffs on ebay (you can tell by the super cheap price) but while some reported they fit fine, others have said they don't fit at all. I would bite the bullet and go OEM for the better quality - no matter the make you'll have to adjust it a bit to fit 100% since it's pu and warps when not installed....

Yeah I don't plan on putting knockoffs on my car. It's just what I saw on eBay. I actually was just on that site and somehow could not find the section you just linked me too. (Probably because I'm on my phone)

Thanks! Going to order these now!

You will love it, I have one still in the box that I will be installing on my FX50 once it gets warmer out.
