Dear Infiniti Scene members,

I think this is my first post lol anyway

I own a 2006 Infiniti FX35 and I was rolling with other Infinitis on the highway (we don't support racing in any form or fashion; well when I went behind a dump truck, one of the rocks from it's tires broke my right fog light.

Now I went to Infiniti and told them that my right fog light was broke and they said it will cost $300. Does that seem like reasonable price? Be honest.

If it doesn't, should I trust someone nearby to replace it.. and if I should- should I upgrade the foglights to a higher HID? I'm not sure if they're HID.. I know they're stock so are the headlights (which are stock HID projectors). The whole vehicle is stock..

Also, I really need help in locating the right foglight bulb and glass that covers it (I guess that's the housing lol)

I sound like a real noob right now, but I'm also trying to learn. Bare with me.

Thank You,
Nnaji Dimiri

Welcome!

Stock fog lights never come with HID, only the headlights. The fog lights come equipped with halogen bulbs. Since your replacing the foglight since it got busted open, you might as well upgrade them to HID lights instead.

The stock fog lights are not HID, but you can buy a HID kit and convert them yourself. There are threads in the DIY section on how to do that. As for the broken fog light, is it a just a broken glass? or bulb? or does fog lightt not work at all?

The glass broke, and when I try to turn on the fog lights, the right one doesn't work, so I'm assuming the bulb is dead as well too. So I have a broken glass and broken fog light.

Fog lights don't help me well.. honestly, I find them useless haha- but would you guys recommend HID fog lights? I guess they match the headlights, right?

Many differences in opinion of what kelvin to get for the HID fog kit, but I personally like the look of the 6k as well as 6k headlights. All you need to do is buy a replacement housing off ebay and do the rest yourself which is pretty easy once you remove the bumber.

These look like stock 06-08 FX replacement oem fog light housings.

Alright thanks, Dr. 2k!

I saw that cheaper one was blue.. is it actually blue like that in real life? The other one was the "normal" color.. just $25 more.

I was thinking that too. I just emailed the seller, I hope his answer is what I want.

I just hope once I get the fog lights, that my friend doesn't have any trouble opening the bumper of the FX...:eek.: I heard it's tedious..

Not too bad once you know where the screws are are where you have to be careful not to break any of the clips. With regards to the HID kit, lots of members order from here ///5752

I removed my fog lights off of my 06 without removing the bumper. Remove the lower splash guard, stick your head in there and remove one or two screws (can't remember if it was 1 or 2 screws) and it comes right out.

6000k color temp hid's are the way to go.

You didn't remove the bumper..?
Did you find that out through an instructional guide online because that sounds more easier and safe lol but remember- I'm replacing the housing and bulb.

Alright so all I need to do is buy the replacement housing+ bulb. And if I want HID lights, I just get H8 6000k lights?

Just had the same thing happen to me recently. It is easier to take off the front bumper, especially if your deciding to add an HID kit to them. With mounting the ballasts, wiring, installing a new fog housing...just take the bumper off. For a first timer, it will take 30 minutes to take off...those 2 bolts on the inside can be a PITA to get off. And it is only one screw on the top of the housing to get the fog light housing out. They are also held in by 2 clips...but just pushing from the backside will pop them loose.

OEM foglights on 03-08 FX are interchangeable with the 03-07 Nissan Murano, and 02-04 Nissan Altima's foglights. When looking them up remember LH is drivers side and RH is passenger side.

OEM LH - $49.03 free shipping

Thanks for the tip!

I've actually already seen those housing before, but they don't match my 06' housing.

This is the actual one:

Under the item, it even says it doesn't support 2006 Infiniti FX35.

As for the bumper removal, is there like a step by step guide online or a video link? lol I wish I could just put an HID light in without all the converting and blahhh :mad.:

How about this?

I've read this guide a couple of times and it seems like it's pretty straightforward. I'm waiting for my DDM Tuning HID ballasts to come in before I take out the bumper since I'm going to both replace a broken fog light and upgrade the fog lights and headlights otherwise I would tell you with more certainty on how easy really is. But enough people have done it and they all agree that it's pretty easy to do.

Sweet thanks guys, y'all were a lot of help!
I'm going to read the guide along with my friends who are also car enthusiasts so we can work on it together, I'll upgrade to the HID fog lights later. I'll be getting 6000k bulbs when I do.

Two more questions:
Are LED license plate lights illegal? I just want brighter ones.. white brighter ones.

Also, are HID fog lights illegal? lol

Yes HID fog lights are illegal since it's not DOT compliant. And so are LED liscence plate lights. But only the super blue ones. As long as you get white you should be good. Just don't get ugly blue

I did my hid kit in my fogs without removing the bumper. Mounted and everything. When i loosened the screws the whole assembly comes right out. I guess everyones different. I dont see it logical to pull an entire bumper off to put in 2 bulbs.
