Not sure if any of you saw this article from today.

"In a story published by Technology Review, researchers have demonstrated multiple times that they can bypass the security of wireless entry and ignition systems to take a car without the owner's permission. As researchers in the article point out, car security systems will begin have a real impact to every day use if a thief can simply walk up to your car and drive it away. Although this article is light on technical details, a companion article shows how the researchers accomplished the security bypass. An interesting read, and certainly something that will no doubt be the subject of a new movie any day now."

:eek.:

the problem with research and such information is that they actually show these thiefes how to steal the car, if they did not show the how to it would be harder for a person to learn how to. Which would be much easier on our lives.

^ kind of like how there are forums where people teach each other how not to get raped by the dealerships and do stuff themselves....lol

Yeah the internet is filled with information....best offence is a great defense and the best we can do is bring it to our attention so we are aware and maybe enough attention actually makes Infiniti come out with a TSB....that's the only way. Keep quiet and then nobody cares, but the information will always be somewhere online regardless.

I was wanting wheel locks from the dealer and didn't know for sure if I wanted them because of how it would look. I see cars all the time on bricks with missing rims. Then the manager said, if a thief wants something, he will get it no matter what you do. That's what insurance is for.

I'm surprised it took someone this long to figure it out. The system they devised just acts as a repeater.

I do not know how they figure an antenna can be placed within 8 meters of a person's key...hell, I cannot unlock my cargo door if I am standing off to the side more than a foot or so. Maybe other brands have more sensitive systems?
