New body kit

this kit will go on a 06+ no problem... the 06+ grille does mount differently but is the same physical shape & size, since this is a fiberglass bumper anyway I'm pretty sure it could be modified to accept the 06+ grille, like viet said, worse case the 05- grille mounts right up, but I'm pretty sure an 06+ can be made to work...

as far as the sides, no issues there, it'll bolt right up no problem... so yeah, this kit can be used on 06+. I would even graft the front chrome corner piece in to the front edge for a really perfect fit, this is much easier to do on 06+ than the earlier ones, so in a way the sides are almost better for an 06+ than an earlier one for that reason...

price on install is hard to say... average ballpark might be around $500 to paint all & then maybe another $250 or so to mount it all up... one big variable though is how it mounts & another variable with fiberglass, if you really want it to look flawless, you could spend a whole lot of extra prep time to make it flat enough to not look like fiberglass parts... this is not to say anything against rookies fiberglass work, this holds true for just about any fiberglass parts including the best of them... you can just sand prime & paint, or you can spend a lot of time finessing fiberglass parts too depending on how crazy you want to go with it...

in the end, if you went ape & had them really work it to get a great finish & modify to fit the 06+ grille and the 06+ chrome front molding extension, I'd think it still wouldn't be much more than a grand all said & done... a lot depends on the shop doing it, I'm sure there are shops that would do it for less too... don't know how cali prices compare to ny prices though... or texas in your case...

then theres the issue of painting all the rest of the lower trims, like wheel opening moldings & lower rear bumper... figure maybe another $500 there to do it right...

in the end, with the kit & all done great total may be like $2,500... well worth it for this much custom work I think...

curious to see what kind of prices rookie gets:smile:

For the Gs in the past we've been getting 350 paint and install on aftermarket front bumpers and 400ish for sides painted and installed.

so $500 to paint both & $250 to install both is spot on at $750 both painted & installed straight foward... should be around that most everywhere I guess

Auto Explosion has always been real competitive, some shops around socal charge more than Auto Explosion though. They'll check fitment of kits even though they aren't asked to, I've seen some great paint jobs happen at other high end shops with no care to fitment issues of the aftermarket stuff.

yeah, aftermarket stuff like this definatley needs test fitting & massaging to make really nice, & that NEEDS to be done before paint... if it's just painted like a factory part & thenm installed, it's then too late for minor corrections, then they blame the parts as being crap... there not crap, there aftermarket.. goes with the territory... so many guys complain about aftermarket parts but it is obvious that pre-fitting goes with anything aftermarket... the guys who complain are the guys who don't want to face the fact that it is not an oem part, & fiting is necissary before paint.

These prices sound reasonable. So around 1750 for the whole package... definitely a future consideration.

Ok, now that's been in a bit and the initial reaction has settled. What to do?

I think this is great, I def have interest in this. I like how it's just the front and sides and no rear.

Does anyone have shots from further away? It looks great upclose, but just wanted to see how it looked from afar.

Nice AP racing bbk on the car and I see the Axis tradition continues!

I got to see this kit in person on Marks FX at HIN Saturday night. The kit looks hot on Marks ride a long with the painted wheel trim. The kit is made well and flows nicly with the lines of the FX. Hard to get a good shot of it in the dark and or at a distance. I also loved Marks new black headliner. I now want my headliner done in black.

hey you have any pic on the black headliner......also im considering doing this also..... any price spec also thx.......

My only gripe about this is the fiberglass part. The front bumper looks really nice. I say put the custom grill that rookie has ///1207&page=3 as part of this kit. I'd buy both the front bumper and grill

I agree that fiberglass is less desirable than urethane. Then again, it is easier to modify a fiberglass bumper for fitment, if necessary.

I think I remember reading that Rookie's grill is made from fusing bits from two stock grills... It would be hard and very time consuming to build a mold to pop new ones.

sorry to be th noob that brings a thread back form the dead....but is this still available? the KurumaZ site doesn't have the g35 bumper shown anymore...and i never found out if this kit was available for sale; i was interested in it a while back and never heard what happened...... so i was just wondering
