I am having a new Interstate Megatron Battery installed this week and am hoping to minimize the issues others have had. I read others had issues with the camera not working, trip odometer resets, etc. I also read others have stalling issues. Is their anything I should pass on to the installer to possibly alleviate this from happening? Thanks.

I personally think that the problems that other have experienced is just co-incidental. I have changed battery multiple times without any issues other then losing radio and/or seat memory settings. Don't to let the car seat several hours without a battery because the on-broad computer(s) will lose it "running/current" settings and return to factory settings if it seat without a battery for several hours. When I have to replace the battery in any car, at max its about 40 minutes without the battery.

Some had said they use one those so call "Memory Saver" gadget with a 9v battery that plug into the cigarette lighter port to keep the settings. I never try one myself to say whether it works or not.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to ask them if the use such a device to hold settings, though I am not worried about that.

If you remove old battery and promptly swap to a new battery, there shouldn't be any issues. I've heard of the memory saver stuff as well, but don't think it works. A few people I know have used it and it did nothing. I don't see how swapping a battery is going to impact anything unless they cause a short or don't connect it back properly.

Battery was installed, I popped the hood to check their work, and what should be an 800cca, 1000ca Interstate Megatron, turns out to be a Diehard 550cca, they installed the wrong battery. They scrambled to make it right but original tech seemed pissy over it. Was not a big deal in my eyes, easily fixed. Everything is working thus far (knocks on wood).

Hey guys...how often is everyone swapping out new batteries?? Mine is about 4 yrs old now and the car hesitates whrn starting. Also, anyone actually try those memory saver things?? Wondering if it's worth using so I don't lose all my settings...

Don't bother with them, not hard to put your radio settings and seat settings back.

Also an ECU reset is a good thing once in awhile. Clears old error codes and resets stuff.

Cool...thx meme. So is about 4yrs what to expect from a battery? I remember my stock battery went over 5yrs strong. You think that's causing the starting hesitation??

After going through two batteries in 4 years I went with the OPTIMA Yellow Top battery. Hopefully this will be the last battery.

I would have the battery tested, it may not be the cause of your starting issues. My OEM battery lasted 5 years; going a little over 3 on Bosch replacement. 4 years isn't out of range for normal, but have it tested. Your location will also impact battery life, ie, if it's very cold there, battery life is shorter.

FWIW, I've always had terrible experiences with Optima. I never got more than about 1.5 years from one (blew through 3 Red Tops). Advantage of a yellow top is if you run electronics with the car off, they are deep cycle. It doesn't really last longer than regular battery or start better than standard battery or red top. I only ran Optimas because I had relocated my battery to the trunk and didn't want to install a vent tube - Optimas are sealed.

Thx Shadow...yeah I'm running a Bosch premium and actually I've had no issues since swapping it in over 4 years now. I"ll get it tested but I was thinking
it may just be getting old now. Also I don't drive the car everyday...sometimes I'll go 3 or 4 days without starting it up.

Hey all...I can't remember..but when you disconnect the battery...do you lose the navigation settings??...like home location, previous destinations, etc.
Anyone know? I changed my battery out so long ago...can't remember if I lost those things.

SOOO I must have jinxed myself...just got back from a wedding and was gone for 4 days....and now battery is completely dead lol. Car won't start at all.
Had a feeling it was going to go soon....but hey it did last for about 4 yrs and 2 months.

Here is what I will do when changing the battery (most cars these days have memory stuff to protect). I have a couple of motorcycles so there is always a 12v battery around. I will connect the jumper cables from the bike battery to the car's battery cables before disconnecting and replacing the car battery. That way there is no loss of voltage at all.

Cheers,
Glenn

Great idea...Actually all I lost was radio settings and seat memory settings. All my navigation settings remained including past destinations and my home point.

I just replaced my battery and the FX would turn over, but it would not start. I had to get out, shut the door, and unlock the FX with the physical key. It started immediately.

So what is the deal with the battery change for vehicles with the intelligent key? I have an 2006 FX35 and need to replace the battery. With other vehicles I've had it was no big deal, but I am concerned with this one. I also have an Compustar alarm on it. What precautions do I need to take to replace it myself?
