New Addition To The Family

Hey all! I'm a regular lurker on the boards who doesn't do much of posting etc. I wanted to share with you guys the newest addition to our family.... Certified Pre Owned 2010 Infiniti FX35 in Mojave Copper / with Java Interior and all options. Bought it with 8200 miles. This is an addition to our 2006 Infiniti FX35 with all options that my wife is now driving. I'm actually splitting my driving time between the two of them, because they are both so much fun!!!! Enjoy and any ideas for mods for a 2nd Gen? All I've done is all interior lights to LED's and 20% tint on the front and rear!

Thanks!

John

Welcome!

How do you like your new ride compared to the first gen?

It handles "differently" the 1st Gen is lowered and has Stillen Intake w/ Z Tube, and seems more responsive. The 2nd Gen is a more refined ride with loose steering, as I am a fan of the tighter steering / handling, etc. As for refinement and true luxury, the 2nd gen is a hands down winner! I'm in love with the interior and all of the lines and shapes of the exterior. I still cant pick a favorite, but was thankfully able to land one of the two colors i wanted, it came down to midnight mocha and mojave copper, so went with the copper as it showed up first.

haha I knew you would say that:wink (2):

I drove a 1st gen before and the handling and steering response is better than the 2nd gen. It makes you feel more connected to the road. The 2nd gen has a more luxurious ride though and it's quieter.

Both are awesome cars:biggrin:

One of my favs on my 2nd gen is how high the hood is up. You can see all the sexy curves from the back and front seats:tup:

Welcome to IS! You're in a unique position to provide us with real comparisons of both models from a long term owner's perspective. Interesting about the steering response, I thought (assumed) the second gens handled better all around...

Yea, fire away with any questions any of you may have! I'm here to help and learn! I still cant get over all the looks you get in either of the cars.

I'll be honest, when I first test drove the FX, the only thing I really really hated was the hood because it reminded me of Hyundai...The Hyundai Santa Fe from the inside felt the same way.

Now I love it though! haha

The other thing is when I first drove it, it felt HUGE. Like a huge truck...now I'm really used it to and doesn't feel that big anymore.

the 2nd gens feel a lot bigger to me than the 1st gens. 1st gens feel more sporty to me. That's why lowering I think for the 2nd gen is even more important, but too bad it's such a problem for our generation FXs and for FX50S, forget about it! :(((((((((((

nice black FX and it must be real nice to drive two different generations of FX

I know what you mean, the 2nd gen feels huge and it took me a week or so to get used to it, it felt like i was too far over on the side of the road etc. And the longer / bigger hood can making parking in a garage a bit interesting, but thankfully there is a camera up there to assist, ha!

Yea, its definitely awesome. My wife has been driving the new one lately as I've been doing a lot of driving with work. But we're taking it for a long Memorial Day trip today, and leaving the 1st gen behind.

I love those rims on your first generation FX they look awesome. Those are still the same gunmetal rims right?

Yea, I had them painted November 2009 and the original paint / clearcoat has held up thus far. I might have them painted the stock color again, as my wife isn't too crazy about driving around like that. Kind of funny to see a little blonde get out of a car like that!
