New 2008 FX35 Owner

Looking good echo. :good: Yep with the front tinted will be even better looking :smile (2):

So, my OCD is kicking in as I noticed something about our new car! After a few double takes, it appears the passenger side rear door has been repainted recently. In different light, the door looks just a shade lighter than the rest of the car. Do I leave well enough alone, or try and do something about it? My fear is I will never get this color matched perfectly and could only make things worse! The carfax on this car is perfect, so I assume the previous owner knew a shop that would do this under the radar. The work is fine and looks very professional, aside from the slightly lighter paint color.

Comments, suggestions?

Do I roll the dice and try for a closer match? That's my dilemma.
Someone drove into my last FX when I was parked. The front fender was damaged. I had it replaced. Well it never was a perfect match, a couple guys on here noticed it and it bothered the crap out of me. I was going to get it resprayed but my wife talked me out of it, she always said it looked perfectly fine.
I tell you it always bothered me. If it bothers you that much get it done. If it's your wife's car and she is perfectly happy with it then it's a kind of flip the coin and decide. I say leave it for a while and see how you feel a few months from now.

Great advice! Thank you! You have a very valid point here. It is my wife's car and she never noticed it until I brought it to her attention. She is happy with it. I think time is good medicine here. If it still bothers me that much in a few months I may take the next step.

I'd say to live with it the way it is (and don't look at that side of the car)
It will never match even if you use the original can of paint. The only way to make that look better is to fade/blend the new paint over the adjacent panels. This would require and lot of R&R, repaint the back door, rear quarter, and 1/2 of the front door or even better yet into the front fender of whole front fender. It still would not match, but you wouldn't be able to tell.
It's really not that bad though.

I agree, I'm going to leave it alone. Here is a pic from this morning. It looks better in different light. Hardly noticeable here.

It looks fine to me, except for the pinstripe. Love that color.

It will cost you a fortune to blend this color in. Just leave it as is, looks OK to me

I'm in the process of fixing my door. And it's exactly same one as yours...
Congrats on the ride! I was originally looking for one like yours - with brick interior, sport package. Couldn't find one in the whole country...

Good luck with your door! Let me know how it goes. I am leaving well enough alone on our door for now.

I was told this particular color combo was rare. When I saw the for sale AD and the location was only 250 miles from me, I jumped all over it! Totally worth it, we just love this car. Its a real head turner, and we have already had a lot of stray compliments!

Well I completed my first oil change with this car tonight. After removing the plastic shield, everything else was a breeze! the alternator looks fairly easy to replace too! Anyway, I went with M1 EP oil, and the M1-108 oil filter. Just curious, I ended up putting in roughly 5.5 quarts of oil. The goofy dipstick on this engine is very difficult to read. I read another post that I should have waited 30 mins to let the oil settle good. Will the 5.5 quarts hurt anything?

The owners manual said 5 quart. I won't worry about the extra half quart. It should be fine. I feel that you need to let the half quart out, just loosen the drain plug and let it out.
