new 09 fx35 owner

This is not normal for any 2nd gen FX. I've never even seen an issue like this before. Sounds to me like the car was severely damaged before and the dealer is trying to cover it up. Just cause a Carfax comes out clean doesn't always mean it lived a problem free life. Previous owner must of done something to the car.

hey guys,

well i'm getting my car back today after being at the dealer since last tuesday. they're replacing the ABS controller (something that costs a few grand?). well if this problem persists, i'm probably going to lemon law this car...even though i really don't want to do it. i inquired with a few lawyers and they agreed i have a valid case. man, this sucks. you would think buying a "certified" used one from a dealership with extended warranty would mean that you have a problem free car, but what a shame. i absolutely love this car. it'll be tough finding another one with this mileage and for this price. i hope the problem is fixed today.

i'll update again when i get the car back tonight.

thanks!

Hope everything gets sorted out and that she runs fine! No new car owner should have to go through this after purchasing a car. It just ruins the whole experience.

thanks, man. i hope it's fixed too. after reading some of the input i received here, i'm really afraid i got scammed. are there any other tell-tale signs of modifications? i'm wondering if i should bring it to a body shop to get inspected for damage. i went through the bumpers and other components and all have matching VIN.

Get the car back...drive it a few days...then lets see :)

Try not to worry as much because these cars are awesome. Maybe you can join a meet in or around your area...I'm sure some iS guys can check it out and make you feel more comfortable after you straighten out the current issue.

well, i got it back from the dealer and the problem seems to be solved. put about 200 miles on it since, and so far so good. i hope it stays this way because i'm loving this car!!! i brought it back to Niello Infiniti (selling dealer) who kept the car for over 7 days because they fixed a whole bunch of scratches on the car. they repainted/refinished the roof, one of the doors, and the rear bumper. i guess they did this for free to show me some good faith after all the trouble i went thru. over the 4 weeks i owned the car, about 2.5-3 weeks was spent at the dealer.

so the issue was the abs unit. they changed the unit which was miscommunication with the rest of the electronic hardware. all check engine light codes were pointing towards the abs unit which they replaced. the service advisor mentioned it was a $2000 part. so far, so good.

the scratches were on the car when i purchased it. i knew it was a used car, so i wasnt expecting something perfect. the dealer said they'll fix it in a sign of good faith for all the trouble i went thru. there was a big scratch on the door that looked like someone side swiped me, but they took care of that too. for the 4 weeks i owned it, it was only in my garage for 1 week which i barely had an opportunity to drive it; i doubt i put any additional scratches on it aside from the possible side swipe.
