Need help finding replacement Dash Speakers

Hey,

I have 2 blown dash speakers in my 2007 FX35. From searching around I saw that people were replacing them with Boston Acoustics S35 a while back. But I don't see those available any longer. Crutchfeild says they don't have any speakers that will fit the dash according to their specs.

Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Thanks!

The se35's will fit with slight modification. I put them in but had to cut the passenger side air duct and seal it up with tape to make it fit. They sound good and are good for quite a bit of power.

edit... Wait never mind I guess they discontinued the se35 too?! JL makes really good stuff bit more pricey but they would probably fit too with a bit of modifications depending on the dimensions.

Hey guys...I think I have blown my driver side dash speaker also. What do you guys suggest to replace? Would like something better than the stock Bose's.
Are the Kickers the best option? Looks like the se35's mentioned above are discontinued. Thx for any advice all....

A couple of years ago I realized that I'd blown my left dash speaker. I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to upgrade and because I wanted the sound to be consistent in all (3) locations (left, center, and right), I bought (2) sets of the Boston Acoustics S35 3 1/2" S Series Coaxial Speakers from Amazon. Here's the link to the speakers I bought. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009JHMU8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I also bought the Metra 71-027C Speaker Wiring Harnesses from Crutchfield. Here's the link to that: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_12071027/Metra-71-027C-Speaker-Wiring-Harnesses.html?tp=3097

To make installation easier, I bought a set of off-set screwdrivers, an extending magnet, and a mirror. And as I'd hoped, installation was pretty straight forward. I was done in about 30 minutes. Hardest part was removing the grilles without damaging them.

But, I wasn't happy with the sound. The sound coming from these new speakers was substantially lower than that coming from the other speakers. Before I'd started this, one of the install guys at my local Car Stereo King had warned me that our factory speakers are running at 2 ohms and since aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms, the volume coming out of anything that he installed would sound lower. He basically refused to sell me anything short of a complete system. I thought he was full of it so I decided to do it myself and unfortunately, he was right. The good news is that I found an honest guy Stereo King and have since given them other business.

Apparently, the factory Bose speakers (tweeters) are 4 ohm in the dash, but they are wired in parallel with the left and right 4 ohm door speakers, which creates a 2 ohm load for the bose amp on the left and right channels. The center speaker is a 2 ohm load as well but it has its own channel. The rear door speakers are 4 ohm wired parallel to the 4 ohm rear pillar tweeters to create a 2 ohm load for the rear left and right channels.

In the end, I removed the Boston Acoustic speakers and ordered a OEM replacement speaker from Infiniti Parts Online for about $40. Here's the part number: 28148CL70A. Here's the link: http://www.infinitipartsonline.com/oe-infiniti/28148cl70a?search_str=28148CL70A It took all of 10 minutes to remove and replace the damaged speaker and I've had no problems since doing this.

Needless to say, I have (2) sets of Boston Acoustics S35 3 1/2" S Series Coaxial Speakers and (2) sets of Metra 71-027C Speaker Wiring Harnesses from Crutchfield that I will be selling as soon as I take the time to post them. I also have great audio and electronics friend at Stereo King.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Forgot to mention the most important part. I drive a 2005 FX45 w/ sport package and electronics package.

Hey all....has anyone replaced the stock center channel speaker in the dash? Is it also a 3.5 speaker like the left/right ones? Anyone do this??

For the first generation FX a VERY common fix was to disconnect the center speaker entirely. Several guys argued the center channel was not matched well to the front speakers and it made the sound imaging less defined and diffused.

Personally I never felt that way - I've always kept mine in service and if I were to replace it, a stock unit would probably be my solution.
