thanks for help in advance
I have a 05 45 with about 50k miles
since like 4-5 days ago when i have my gear in park during warm engine
my car shakes...

details of the shaking- the rpm sits around 600 during park idle then every 2-3 seconds or so
it drops about 2,3 rpm..continuously..... it';s not a violent shake but it feels like it looses power for that
.5 second or so and the gage climb up to normal of about 6oo rpm then after 2-3 sec back to 580rpm and
on and on....

when i have my heat on hi i can also literally hear the fan blow slightly less in power and then it gets to high
having me to think whether this is associated with battery or alternator....

the symptom is kinda similaar to that of a misfire or when the distributor is sitting at the wrong spot or something... but the shake is not a bad wobble...hmmmm

when i am driving or have it in D nothing seems wrong and the car is perfect... when i have it in
neutral the car seems to be ok or just a slight bog... not as much as when in park...

any help or prev exp? thank you so much... and no signs... light check engine or anything... ,.....
no performance mods... only the jwt intake........

Couple of times this happened to me, when i changed my battery, afterwhile it stopped. 2nd occurence was after changing my intake to short ram; time to time the car slightly vibrates or drops rpm. All the vaccum hoses are tight, no leaks etc

I would follow the doctors order :smile (2): , try cleaning the throttle body first and check your air filter as well.

I guess the sir filter is ok cuz i just put jwt intake like 3 month ago
hmm throttle body cleaning .... i am not to sure about paddle dancing
after the cleaning i looked over it onece but the damn instructions were
like 100 steps of stepping..... thank you guys any onther thought?

does our ride have like a distributor ?

if i went to the dealer for throttle body cleaning how much would it cost...
also can any repair shops tto TB cleaning? n stepping? or better off to the dealer... thx

try cleaning the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. Spray from far away, direct pressure = bad and can damage the MAF sensor.

Metro Infiniti did my throttle body cleaning for $80. I know pep boys was around $50... But didn't want to rake a chance with our sensitive tb.

I simply take off the air intake, and clean the throttle body and plate when closed, then manually open the plate and clean what I can. It's really not that sensitive.

The right Handy_Andy way is to remove the throttle body all together and clean it.

I had the horror of spraying throttle body cleaner onto the plate, flying back and getting me in the eyes -- wasn't fun washing that stuff. So wear protective eyewear...

Is there any check engine light? It could be a dirty MAF ( Mass Air Flow Sensor ) that can cause just a little bit of a idle problem, Dirty Throttle body.

Also could be a dirty throttle position sensor, or IAC, ( Idle air control )

Why do you guys think cleaning the throttle body is not part of Infiniti's maintenance plans after xxxxxx miles?

Infiniti even says to change your radiator cap after x miles, so why not this?

Furthermore, are our cars just more susceptible to dirty TB? I never heard of or had to clean my TB on my previous rides? :confused.:

Those are something interesting questions to think about.

I think the lack of a suggested mileage interval is due to the fact that the "need" to clean the TB is entirely dependant on an individual's driving habits. Ergo, it's an "as needed" maintenance item.

Fwiw, its pretty popular on the VW/Audi forums as well but is not mentioned in the service manual as a maintenance issue.

It doesn't seem expensive to have cleaned especially for under $100...should I have mind cleaned every 60,000 miles or every 100,000 or some other mileage just for the piece of mind running most efficiently?

When installing my Crawford plenum I looked at my TB and it was absolutely FILTHY. That was likely due to the blow-by I noticed in the plenum..

My FX has been getting an average of 17 MPG with mostly highway driving, so I'm getting some cleaner and taking care of that nasty TB before my next road trip.

My 08 did this last night, at stop lights it would shake and sound weird, then when I parked it started flashing SES light. I turned it off ans back on and no problem... I'm gonna change air filter this week, as well as clean the tb and see it it ever occurs again. I'm at 32k. Getting oil changed tomorrow from dealer since It's free :-)
