Need FX advice

Gotcha. Well if the right LS2 comes around I'll jump on it. Sorry to get off topic. Keep us updated on your search...

Ok, I found an 07 FX45 with 91k miles on carmax for $23k. From what you've seen so far, is that reasonable or are there better deals to be had?

Ok, so Im having that 07 shipped here with Carmax. Any idea if it should have built in ipod capability or will I have to add some type of kit?

Kit? Ok, I'll check around for prices. At this point, I've pretty much decided to get the FX-even though I did glance at a Range Rover HSE for a minute. In that same minute, I saw repair service...

Awesome man. That's two FX45 in the last day that people have bought here. Yes, its some kit you have to purchase. When I got mine, I thought it would be all ready to go, with cables or some place to plug it in, but no, you have to get some adapter kit online or at dealer.

High mileage should be fine, but it's completely dependant on the care and concern of the previous owner(s). Of course, coming from a used dealer, there is very little to go by. There are several members here in the mid hundreds on VK mileage with no problems at all. But, most of us here are particular FX fanatics to begin with so care and maintenance is of top priority.

Well, I was out driving just now and I found a 03 FX45 for sale for 11k with 108k miles. It has bose, but no sub. No backup cam or navigation. The interior and exterior are in fairly good condition, but the engine was dirty. I saw a bit of condensation on the inside of the oil cap, but no drops on the oil stick and it didn't miss or anything. Sounded very nice as a matter of fact. Now the decision is-with that big of a gap in price (22k for the 07), can I just add the things that I listed above and come out way ahead and without a car payment. Opinions?

Honestly, the difference is not worth it, im my opinion. Sure its half the price say, but there's a four year age difference and the 07 should be loaded with options. If you plan on keeping it long term, I say stick with the '07 and you will be happy you did for all the updates and facelift.

To be honest with myself, I will probably only have this for 2 years or so. I agree if I was going to keep it longer it would make obvious sense to pay a little more now for, what may be, less hassle later. I made a list of things in the fx that I would be fine without and the V8 was the only thing that I'm not willing to sacrifice. I'm going to think on it some more. At this point, I think I'll be happy with either one for different reasons.

Here's a quick pic of the one that I purchased. I ended up going with the 03. I got it for 10k and so far I'm happy with it.
So far I have:
Changed the transmission fluid, rear diff fluid, coolant, repaired a leaking exhaust flange, engine cleaning and found the factory bose sub
On the way:
Mantaray Intake, Kurt hitch, new outer tie rods
Next round:
Parrot Mki9200, 5x8 utility trailer and ?

Congrats, it's official! :iS:

Next round: Sport tail lights, coilovers, GTSPEC bracing, upgrade HIDs is a good start. :wink (2):

Why not also change the transfer case and front differential fluid while you change out the rear differential? Is your a RWD?

No, its AWD. I meant to add that to the list for this weekend. I ran out of time to get that done the other day. Oh and I should probably add HIDs for the fog lights too. Any suggestions on how to clean the exhaust tips; the finish needs help. Would chrome polish work?

Chrome polish with some abrasive value works well. Just park your butt on the floor for a little while and rub all the grit away.
