Need advice. Potenial new owner

Hi guys,

Considering an 06 FX35, with about 60k on the clock. Price aside, would this be an advisable purchase if properly maintained by the previous owner?

How solid are the transmissions known to be? Engine issues? Leaks?

I don't mind the small fix-ables, like rattles and so forth, but just wondering how solidly built are these vehicles? As a 350z owner, I do know the model year 06 motors on the manual 350z and G35's tend to consume alot of oil. Have there been reports of engine replacements in these cars?

Thanks

The '06 manual Z has the revup engine, which we do not have, so that is not an issue here.

Since the fx35 is the DE motor, the only thing to worry about is finding oil in the spark plug hole. This has been a common issue with the Z and G crowd as well. Doesn't seem to be as common on the FX. At 60k, you might have to get new shock/struts.

Other than that... An 06 with only 60k has a ton of life left...the engine is barely broken in.

60K on an 06 is low mileage...so it was probably garaged more often than not (I just hit 65 on my 06 and I don't consider myself to log a lot of miles).

Go for it!

My close buddy purchased his fx with 20k miles and it now has 66k miles. Before i purchased mine i asked him what kind of issues he has had. His reply was... "i had a flat tire once".

So long as the previous owner took car of the vehicle, 60K is nothing. These rides are continually ranked as one of the best/most reliable Luxury SUV's on the market (aacording to JD Power and Associates). The engines and trany's are built to last. I've been a firm believer of prevenative maintenance, which has been successful for me thus far. Good Luck!

Like most Nissan built cars, the FX is reliable for all the major stuff. You're not going to have to worry about being stranded or stuck w/ some expensive repair to the powertrain. It's just the little stuff that's annoying in terms of fit and finish. But you own a 350Z, so I'm sure you're familiar with the areas Nissan skimps out on. There will be rattles, leather/vinyl cracking, etc. The only thing I'd keep an eye out for is the dash since there is an issue w/ bubbling and the extended warranty on those is 8 years 96K. So being an '06, you'd have another year to get it taken care of or else it'll be an expensive fix.

A number of us on here have first gens with much higher mileage than that. Echoing what everyone is saying already, assuming the owner took care of her, it is a great deal! I agree with everyone, go for it.

I have an 06, Its a great car. I still like the first gen over 2nd, and the 06 has the newer dash/nav etc, so cant go wrong. 60k is good mileage.
