Hey guys
So i spoke to my tuner and it looks like im going for the S/C kit instaed of the Twin turbo kit

Here are the list of parts that he will install:

Vortech T-trim supercharger (600 HP rated)
Larger Upgraded Greddy Intercooler
850cc injectors
Upgraded MAF sensor
Upgraded Valve Body
Uprev orsis Tune
Transgo shift kit
Trans cooler
Stillen Headers
Walbro Fuel Pump
Test Pipes
Water Meth injection kit

Here are a list of parts i already have:

HKS legamax exhaust (told its not really that good for a F/I induction system)
Stillen Intake (will be removed)
1/2" plenium motordyne
Stillen Standard Pulley set

Safety is my main concern before the power of the vehicle... it will be a daily driver

Expected HP at the wheels is around 380 -400 (detune the supercgarger).... now im not really sure if i should get a water/meth kit? its 700$ here .... Has anyone had any expiernece with this??

Im looking for maximum cooling, thats why im getting a trans cooler and larger intercooler .... what else do you guys think i should do inorder to improve the engines life span? (except building engine internals .. since im already nearing the maximum of my budget :( ..)

I thought headers weren't good with s/c? That's the only thing that stands out to me. The rest looks good. Not 100% sure on meth, because I thought that was more for high boost applications, but maybe it gets hot enough where you are to warrant it.

Check out Chinke82's build on here. He had a Vortech and is at like 500 hp so you can easily see what to do there. I think he's running meth actually.

Yea im not exaclty sure, i will be running on low boost at least until i buy a longblock package in 6 months or so .... Does the meth kit have any disadvantages to it at all?

Chinke82 seems to have added headers to his application .... My tuner says that it helps relax the engine ... Looks like he is trying to make the air as free as possible ... Hence the test pipes too:wink (2):

Hmm well I guess keep the headers then. This is not exactly the same, but I know Stillen recommends not switching to headers for their S/C.

Stillen SC and Vortech SC are very different. Vortech SC is like a turbo so the air exiting is pressurized already. With the Stillen, the air leaving the blower isn't pressurized yet, it gets pressurized between the blower and intake valves. If you reduce the backpressure, you'll lose some of the A/F mixture out the exhaust valve. With a Vortech, it's not such a big deal because the manifold is already pressurized since all the air coming in is pressurized. With the Stillen, if you lose pressure, the blower has to repressurize the entire intake manifold. Since a Roots blower only moves a fixed amount of air per revolution, this can be difficult. It's the same principle that makes Roots type blowers great for low end torque, but terrible when it comes to high end power. When the engine is at high RPM's, the blower can't keep up.

FWIW, I've had a Vortech SC on a previous VQ powered car and headers did make a difference.

Well I see one major issue here. You have decided to go with larger injectors, but unfortunately I don't think you can control those injectors with the Stock ECU. The stock ECU expects to be talking to a particular size fuel injector and if you change that injector size, you will not be able to control it with the stock ECU.

You will need to buy aftermarket engine management like the Haltech or the ProEFI Engine Management Systems. There are a few other items you will need to get along with the computer. I don't think you will be able to do without this. Both my turbo application and the Supercharger build here in Houston used the Haltech 350Z PnP EMS.

Along with the injectors, you'll need a new fuel regulator, fuel rails and different spark plugs. You may need to convert the fuel system to a return style system to support the power goals.

As for the water/meth kit - I would say no UNLESS your mechanic has a ton of experience with water/meth and tuning cars that use them. Think of water/meth like an insurance policy - it chemically cools the air charge, protecting your engine against knock. However when you run out of water/meth solution, there must be a safety check in place so that your motor (tune) doesn't think water/meth is still being used. I have personal experience with water/meth on several of my friend's cars and they have related failures I would just rather avoid all together. Using water/meth is also going to require aftermarket EMS - you can't run this on the stock ECU.

For what it is worth, installing the Vortec S/C is going to cost you around $15,000 US - almost twice as expensive as the JWT TT. One of the major reasons for this is the EMS and the related controls.

Can't the Uprev Osiris do injector scaling? I believe it can; I'm not sure what the limits are so maybe 850's are too big. I know that back in the day even the very primitive first gen e-manage could do injector scaling. I used it on my old car to run 670cc's vs. 245cc stock injectors.

Yea i was qeustioning why my tuner wanted 850cc's but he said not to worry though, the uprev tune can handle it ... Guna do a bit more research on that ...

Thanks jumbo i will talk to my mechanic about the fuel rails and the new fuel regulator ...

The main i chose to purchase the supercharger kit is that he has ALOT of expiernce with this particular system ... + a guy was selling his vortech kit (without the supercharger) with an larger upgraded greddy intercooler ... Apparently until now the whole kit (with labor and installation) is costing me around 11,000$ ...

Yea i spoke to my mechanic and he said the exact same thing you said brad :P ... The radiator is much thicker that the 350z's + the 350z stock bumper does not let nearly enough air as the FX does ...

Yea this tuner has alot of expierence with this kit .. Apparenlty it comes with a specific LED light the informs you if the tank meeds filling or the system is not working and all ... Again my main concern is prolonging the life of my vehicle ... If this water meth kit will help me do that, then i hope its worth it :P

Oh yea im really interested in that idea about the "pathfinder" cooling kit ... Does anyone have a list of the parts codes that are required? Or is this a custom kit?

Thnks guyd!

Shadow, yes you are right they can scale but there are a lot of exceptions to that rule and one of them is the maximum size of the injector.

I honestly don't know if 850cc is too large for the stock ECU to handle. I was just simplifying my answer because with what is essentially a custom build, with water/meth... aftermarket EMS with an experienced tuner is the best way to protect the motor long term.
