Hey guys,

Looking for some advice..former 350Z and G35 owner here,...been through 2-350Z without any issues and a G35 with out no issues...test drove the Fx 45 today...loved it...i am getting an inspection done tomorrow...clean title,2 owner car.

Wondering if there is anything I need to know about these trucks before I buy?

Me and my wife both had RWD cars,so would always have issues in the snow,so sold the Z last week and want to replace it with a low maintenance SUV.

We are expecting in 85 days,so needed something that would fit a car seat and a stroller.

How about mileage?Pretty decent?

Could I drive the next 40K with normal maintenance without issues?

Also the Fx does not have Nav or back up camera...what are some good options?

Thanks In advance

Manny

Some 45 owners have reported oil loss. But that kind of falls under normal maintanence for the v8 engine. Keep oil in it and keep an eye on it every once in a while.

Other than that...it is a wonderful SUV..not a truck...:smug:

There have been 4-5 members that have installed Alpine nav systems and aftermarket camera's. Check DR2K , Rookie, TurboCad, and bklynjohn718 just did his real nice.

Congrats on the little one! The FX will be a fine vehicle for you. It does get a little cramped on trips. With the portable crib/stroller/ 3 bags for the baby..it gets packed. But it does work....and the crib and stroller eventually go away.

welcome to IS and good luck with your CUV (and not suv). Since a lot of ameneties are standard n there's a lot less you can do with that vk motor, your wallet will stay full and happy.

Its neither! It's a thrill wagon! :wink (2):

Like said before the VK45 burns oil. I think it is commonplace to see a little smoke upon startup. Some burn more than others, so like said before keep an eye on the level and you will be fine.

I have no firsthand knowledge of how a family with a baby and all the things they carry fit, so I leave that to those who can provide an accurate response. I have had 3-4 20-25 year old girls in my backseat, it was cramped for them, that's the extent of my first hand knowledge of how much people and stuff I can fit into the FX goes.

You can go another 40K miles with basic maintenance. I will say that if the struts/shocks haven't been changed yet, they are overdue. They are a common item to replace on these vehicles. I've figured around 50-60K miles on average (my opinion, some have gone much more but probably at the expense of ride quality; degradation is something that most do not notice as it is gradual). Brakes are commonplace at that mileage also. Figure 350 shipped for the struts and 300 shipped for the rotors and pads at some point; if you are a DIYer both are relatively easy to change.

Other than those you should be set. Since you have had Gs before, no need to get into interior quality, or the lack thereof. Since you are a previous Nissan owner you know that they can be either dead reliable (which 99.9% are) or a basketcase.

Hope things go the way you want them to.
