Need a new Transmission....

Where is the best source for a new transmission?

Had a shop install a Transgo about a thousand miles ago. Infiniti dealer told me the transmission is real messed up.

Feeling really frustrated, need a new transmission.. and I won't even get to enjoy a Transgo upgrade after all of this BS.. or ever trust my FX again.

Did they tell you what happened, I mean I would definetly ask at least for a reason besides just taking their word for it.

The dealer sometimes blows stuff out of proportion. I mean I dont know your exact scenario but some dealers are very bad for doing that...

You mean stealers! I would go to a good reputable transmission shop that does high performance work. Why did the stealer tell you that? What problems were you having? And WHY would you not go back to whomever you had put the kit in the first place? I would hold them to the fire, one way or another they would pay!!!

The guy who installed it is 160 miles away.

I'm sure the dealer is blowing things out of proportion and trying to scare me away from independent mechanics and modifications. Saying bolts and brackets are loose.. All I can go on is their advice for now.

The issues I'm having are a repeat of the problems I experienced the day I picked my up my FX from having work done 2 months ago. I brought my FX back to his shop and the issues disappeared until now.

Used transmission from a G35 with 45k on it, New Transgo kit, and new fluid were installed. My old transmission had black fluid in it and locked up in 4th gear after Transgo was installed and the fluid was changed, so I had a 45,000mi trans installed, with transgo and new fluids.. two months ago. The trans runs fine, but I have this SES light and bogging in low RPM's. "limp mode"

I want them to make it right since they're longtime friends/friends of many friends, so I'm hoping to get their advice tomorrow. I also think the dealer doesn't want to touch my car due to a tune and test pipes.. plenum.. mods in general.

Frustrating, but I'm thinking new transmission without transgo and sell this thing ASAP. Or FIX and SELL ASAP.

And I just bought a Stillen strut brace!! Why FX? Why?!?!

I agree with Porknbeans, your in Austin there should be plenty of good speed shops. I would call around and see who they all recommend. Sorry bout your problems, good luck!

If your transmission works fine, but you're in limp mode, it sounds like a sensor issue, not a mechanical one. What codes are you getting?

I'll know tomorrow when I can pick up my FX.

I know its a sensor issue, because the transmission (mechanically) works fine. Just strange that I had the transmission replaced, it threw codes, and now its throwing what I expect are similar codes.

I'm mostly stressed because I'll never trust this transmission again, hoping its a simple fix.

Any suggestions on decent shops in Austin?

Also how can the stealer tells if the bolts and brackets are loose (assuming they meant all the internal bolts and brackets). They have x-ray vision now? I would definitely go for a second opinion.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they just don't want to touch my car.

Hoping for a quick fix.. I might be going back to stock to trade in on a 2012 WRX STi hatch...

Probably going to hit up the "Austin Z Clinic" tomorrow.. unless anyone knows of a good nissan performance shop in Austin.

What codes are you getting? What year is the G35 transmission? Could be that the TCM is different between your model year and the G35's. They had a few different TCM's for the G's.

It threw U1000 and U1001 the first time around, I'm picking the car up in about an hour.. I'll bet it threw those codes again and it has to do with the TCM...

The original mechanic called this morning, and wants to make sure everything is fixed. It might be a little before I can get back to Houston to make the repairs.

The report from the dealer says the output from the valvebody is throwing a code, so theres a plug loose or damaged wire somewhere.

Definitely no need for a new transmission. Really lame not getting the full story with the only suggested course of action being $7,000 plus labor.. but thats a dealership for you..

Dang, as others had state, get it re-inspected at another reputable shop and compare notes. That price tag looks overly blown and GL.

If, it is referring to the Valvebody perhaps when it was install they did not do something right. Have the place the installed the Transgo take a look at it they should cover the cost. If not, you may need to shop for a new Valvebody and ship it to Handy Andy to have the transgo installed and the ship it back to you. Thats if Andy has the time etc.
