Navigation signal always gray! help!

i just purchased a 05 fx35 and the navigation is always showing me being in New Orleans when i live in NC. the manual says that
gray: positioning is not possible.

how can i get to the antenna? any help would be appreciated!

Did you try navigation before you bought the car?

3 possible ways:
a)navigation or antena is broken.
b)check DVD with maps under the passenger seat,maybe it is not reading disk coerrectly
c)try to leave nav on for a while,it might need longer to calibrate and get GPS signals

Good luck.

It would be nice if you were under warranty,as NAV repair is costly :tdown:.
 
did not try it out before i purchased it. (my fault, but still able to take back to carmax for full refund)

the navigation dvd is in it and without it i dont think the maps would show up.

i took it for a 3 hr drive when i got the car last week. it has been showing the area of New Orleans since i first got in the car, i just figured i would just need to read the manual and it should tell me. (did not work out that way)

i did however purchase a carmax warrenty!

where is the GPS antenna located?

I am not sure about your year car. But maybe you change the region in settings? Even in my 2010 we have to select region of maps,not like one map for everything. Like neavada and CA seperately in options,then WA,ID and etc. So just maybe the problem in settings. Just look in manual to see what is going on?

I am not sure where antenna is. I know XM radio one on top of the car.
 
yeah you will def have to change the region of maps. maybe the car was bought from New Orleans before they sold it to you.

do you have the navigation manual? If not go into navigation settings and you should be able to find the regions that go by number and once u pick one you should be all set if thats the issue.
 
Just to barrow tit down, eject the nav dvd and make sure it is original. If it is a burned copy without the firmware upgrade it can do some weird things. Honestly it would put you in cali though, not NOLA.

Try inputting an address/destination, when you do it'll show the state. If you cannot change the state to your current state then it is running a bootleg map DVD without firmware upgrade.
 
you can insert a destination, but itll just route it from the NOLA area and then it wont even give you directions bc there seems to be no signal bc the satelite signal remains gray. the disc is a purplish color, anyone know if that is original?, it has the copyright stuff on it.
