My sunroof wont close!!!!! >:[

My sunroof got stuck!:mad: Every time I press the open and close buttons it just makes a horrible grinding noise.:err: I took it to the dealership and they have to buy a new motor and a rail assy. The rail assy is what the sunroof slides on. My stupid warranty will only cover the motor, which is only about 250 bucks. But I have to pay for the rail assy, which is more than 1000 dollars!! Iv been trying to search online for that part but I had no luck. A cold front is coming through here tomarrow and its bringing rain. :sad: Do yall think I should pay 1000$ or try to find a another place (other than a dealership), to take a look at it? Oh, and if any of yall can find the part im looking for, for a cheaper price, please let me know.
 
Not sure if this will help you get it to close but here is a thread where someone else had to reset it in order to get it to close-

sounds like something is broken. honestley I doubt it needs the motor AND the track, probably just something broken on the track, hard to say what though & if it's available seperatley or not...

if your not looking to spend a fortune, you should be able to go to a place that repairs sunroofs & get them to at least close it & then unplug it so it can't be acidentally opened again. that'll buy you some time. most auto upholstery places work on sunroofs too. if your motor is making any noise more than likely the motor is ok...

my SR stopped halfway too, pouring rain too. But it just needed to be "reset". Took it to infiniti, didn't cost a dime.
I agree, ur track is prolly fine tho...
