I've been having problems with my 09 for the longest time. On start up, sometimes the car will stall out (approx 1% of time). Mostly the car just drops to 400-500rpm at start up and when I stop at a red light.
Its been like this since new and every time I bring the car in they say no problem found.
Today, the service adviser (Kris) told me:
1. My throttle body was filthy and completely caked and it needed to be cleaned. She said because the 09s use dual throttle bodies they tend to get dirty faster. She said they needed to be cleaned every 15,000 miles at a charge of $135.00.
2. When asked about ECM updates she said there was one but she didn't think it could be done without the throttle body cleaning.
I told her to do the reprogramming without the throttle body service and she told me it would most likely make my car worse. She said my car would stall more if I got the reprogram without the cleaning.
After a long back and forth regarding me just wanting the ECM reprogram I finally got it done.
After I got it home, I took the throttle bodies out and looked at them... They were not bad at all.
