My little project

Hello peoples. I've been mostly lurking around the forums and getting inspiration from what I have seen on the boards, and wanted to share with you a bit of what I learned. You may notice that I have everything except the rims..still waiting on those. Should however be here in a few days (custom 3 piece) then I will be installing everything. More pics to follow..stay tuned.

Thanks! Normally I am a "go" instead of "show" person, but as you know there are no bolt on forced induction kits for our cars yet, so I went this route instead (for as much as I spent already I could have done what you did to your car..I saw your receipt lol). Hopefully GTM will come out with a reliable direct bolt on kit some time in the future. I'm glad they got a chance to work on your car as a stepping stone for a potential retail kit like the first gens.

Looking good but aren't those tires too tall (almost a 0.5 inches over the 265/50 tires)?

I hope not..the performance guy at the dealer and the iss forged rep basically chose that tire size, lol. I'm getting 22x10 in the front and 22x10.5 in the rear.

I was just saying because i think that the FX has already some big a#$ wheels. Anyway i think it will look good and with the Eibach springs the gap will be even smaller.

When i bought my 22" rims i actually first purchased yokohama parada spec X 285/50/22 something like that for the car. The tires were rubbing on the struts every time i took a turn. I took it back to townfair tire just a different location from where i purchased the rims. The manager told me that those tires are too wide for my FX and that i needed to get size 265. Granted my FX is the 1st generation and yours is 2nd generation the tires might be different on your FX. Just in case you hear a rubbing noise when you get them installed that might be the issue. But good luck with your project.

Trdguy - is your avatar your real rim? If so, can you post some pics of your rims up close....they look nice!

Lol that is not even a pic of my car much less my wheels.it's photoshopped. I originally was going to get those but everyone I spoke to regarding wheels said you can't do more than a 2.5 inch lip in the rears on our cars when going concave. So I scratched the idea of getting concave. But fyi those are modular c11. Here is a link if you want a better view of those wheels..http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371735.
I went with iss forged fm-8 with a 2.5 inch lip in the front and 4.5 inch lip in the back. pics coming soon..wheels are coming soon so I'm told :)

I've never had upgraded brakes on any car before, so I don't know what to expect. Is it possible to have too much stopping power? I don't want whiplash or anything under normal braking. Do I have to make a conscious effort to be careful when I'm braking so that doesn't happen?I was just really hoping for a little bit better brake feel under normal conditions and only serious braking when I slam on the brakes in emergency situations. I just noticed when I drove the car the brakes were not very confidence inspiring for this caliber of car. I made a mental note that one of the first things I would do is do a bbk. I figured if I'm going to do it I may as well go big. Did I make a mistake?

AP Racing 6 piston front and 4 piston rear was and still is my best mod yet.

You do get better initial bite, almost no fade, and superior braking confidence. It will only take a few stops to get you used to the stopping power.

Once you get them on, any buyer's remorse will go away. Big brake kit is the way to go, for any car that doesn't come with one.

AP Racing is made to work with the OEM brake cylinder and dynamics, so no issues to worry about.

+ 1 re: the BBK. Chedman was a supporter when I purchased my BBK and after running it for a few months I consider it worth every penny. Not only do I NEVER question my rides stopping ability the 15" rotors filled all the wheel gap and it LOOKS much better. A win/win......

Still waiting for my wheels man. Current stock wheels won't clear the bbk. I'm pretty bummed about the wait time from iss forged..keep telling me next week, next week. But I am thinking my patience will be worth it once I get them on. I'll post pics as soon as it's ready..
