My fx45 is thirsty for oil.

How often do you refill your fx45?

2008 FX45 with 80k miles. Mine burns about a quart or so every 4000 mile oil change. It's stayed consistent over the years and I'm not worried.

^ Yep. I was thinking 1 qt every 3k or 4k miles. Around that much and around that long is normal.

You might want to try moving up one level in viscosity (i.e. from 5W-30 to 10W-30 or next level 10W-40) but stick with the 5W-30 for your long cold winters!

Wow, 3 liters in 2000km is high. That's like 3.5 quarts every 1200 miles. Don't some FX45's have issues with the piston rings?

10W-40 fixed it for me. I used valvoline.

Wrap it in foil, before you check her oil! :rotfl:

I switched to T6 a couple of years ago...losing about .75-1 quart between oil changes.
