My FX was "Shot" At...yes by a Bullet.

Well in that section of town anything can happen. At least you weren't hit, I still remember a couple of years back when the little kid in town was killed by a falling bullet from NYE gunfire while sitting in church.

I remember that as well - that was last year in ATL and the little boy was certainly killed by a falling bullet. Not sure what all the dissertation was on ballistics. Any bullet fired into the air will most assuredly return to earth. My thought was that's what you had since the bullet didn't completely pierce the aluminum hood. Not meaning to get into an engineering argument here...I'm an Electrical Engineer, not Mechanical.

Wow, I know how you felt when you saw the damage. I get heated when I find little nicks from rocks on the highway. but take in consideration that t didn't hit your windshield or your passengers or yourself. Could have even worse. Keep us posted on repair.

My wild guess is: the area you drove by might have a some sort of rifle/shooting range, bullet must had travel a bit and ricochet off to your hood. Drive safe!

My brother lives outside Atlanta and according to him the area he was driving through is a shooting range. :)

Just a shot in the dark, oh, one repair away from new... LOL:tongue (2): just thought I'd add some humor since she's all better.

So you found the bullet, that means it did pierce the hood, right? I don't think a falling bullet could do that, especially not one that small. It looks like a 9mm, maybe a 40cal. Somebody was trying to bussa cap. Close range would explain the single "pop" you heard and a handgun would explain how they missed you at such close range. I'd stay away from there in the future if i were you...

yea its a 9mm, full metal jacket (FMJ), from what the southern experts at the body shop said, it was shot in the air and the way it landed (angle of entry) had to have came straight down, & because it didnt pierce the 2nd metal skin, which a FMJ wouldve done, it wasnt direct fire. along with the fact that ranges close at 6pm in most parts of GA & its very unlikely someones useing a FMJ and not a hollow point at the range. but even then the angle of entry shows that it came straight down & people do shoot bullets into the air new years eve....for whatever reason.

happy you got it fixed....something like this happened to my fx this pass september someone was murdered (shot) right in front of my fx didnt get hit but was covered in blood. i have pics but im not gonna post it on here ...its of a dead man infont of my fx with blood running from his head.
