My First DIY Project Ever

Hey guys,

Finally completed my first DIY for my 03 fx35. I really think it gave my car a facelift. It took me about 6 hours to complete because I killed two birds with one stone. I used silver carbon fiber 3m for the center console and all 4 door handles and am thinking about doing the radio face. I also installed the chrome shift panel and a momo shifter. All and all I am happy with the project. My only issue stems with the shift boot cover. I cannot figure a way to keep the cover from bunching up or covering the chrome bottom of the momo. I was thinking maybe tightning the cover with a black twist tie? The pics are below. Any suggestions would be great! Let me know what you think, thanks!

I'm looking for the same shift panel and the momo shifter where you bought it? Does it fit 05?

The shifter is a momo and its from ebay. The chrome shift panel is from infinitipartsusa.com It also comes with the boot cover. I would assume that it would work with an 05 because mine is an 03...

The silver carbon looks really good. The more I see this done, the more I want to do it. Really adds a nice contrast to the interior.

Yea, at first I was skeptical that it may come out a little cheap and cheesy. But I am actually very pleased with the install. Adding the door handles was the best move to bring it all together I think. It has a specific texture to it...

Very nice dude! I have the same colour interior but im looking to do it in black carbon film :wink (2):
I like the black carbon fiber as well. I was 50/ 50 than just went with silver on a whim. I think black will look just as good as well. Searching around on the web there are many different companies who sell the CF. Make sure you go with a trusted website because I have heard that some plp have ordered and the material was too glossy and didn't stretch properly.

did you switch the pattern for the clock trim on purpose or accident?

from the pictures it looks blended in but in person it might stand out more.

Good stuff tho, been wanting to do this for a while now. Just lazy.

nicely done, i have the black one but its bubbling already, esp those corner by the heated seat switch. it's been a lil over a year since i put it on.

Yea I figured I would just complete the console. It looks pretty good bc the face of the clock has a black background.

The only area where I feel like peeling may occur is around the cup holders. I had trouble getting the 3m to stick tightly around the edges. Luckily I keep the cup holder lid up for my phone and what not so it should hold for some time. Has the CF scratched or anything like that?
