2010 FX35 RWD
As many of you know I have a 2010 FX35 thats my daily. I also recently purchased a 2015 R35 GTR which is my favorite car in the workd. However many of you dont know that I love drifting. My childhood dream was tp own a rb26 S13 hatchback 240sx. Then I wanted a kouki s14 with a sr20det. but I was dreaming. This has been on my mind ever since I got my FX. I want to have a 1st gen FX to drift. Yeah you heard that right. Sounds like a crazy idea but I know I can make it work. Here is Jbakers 1st gen that I photoshopped in to my dream build. e20fb7f207bcb99397379a8dbb904e57.jpg

6 speed MT
2way diff
Full roll cage
Gutted interior
red bride low max seats
Hydro ebrake
Chassis mounted spoiler
10000000000 stitch welds
full chassis bracing
Bc coils
Idk what else lol.

Whats your dream build?

Someone in the middle east already built a drift FX. IIRC, he had a Vortech and custom e-brake. I forget his name, but his posts are somewhere on the forum. He didn't go for a manual swap or anything like that, but similar idea.

There's a guy I know that had a built FX35 with the Vortech setup and a custom bigger blower... He was going this route, but has changed his mind to an CTS-V.. A wagon, if the price is right.

I've been meaning to post photos of his car that he sent me, but I've been lazy and this was around the time the site updated lol

Many chiose to go Forced Induction especially with a VQ because they are so capable. But I have yet to see a proper fully built Vq35hr NA. Built bottom end. Higher compression. Built head. Maybe even ITBs. Theres nothing like a 8000rpm redline :)

I don't know if a built N/A motor would be well suited to the FX. The lack of torque and heavy car would be frustrating I'd think. Even if it was a track only car, constantly having to keep the revs up isn't ideal. Exiting corners or using throttle to initiate drifts would be troublesome without torque.

Not that it can't be done, but I think boost would make things easier. Plus cheaper...ITBs alone are priced where an entire F/I kit is. I guess if cost were no object, it would be cool to build a motor like that.

I agree, I don't know if you can pull that much HP from the engine to make this big ass SUV move, even if you gutted it, it's still a pig. FI would be the best way to do this.

i understand you guys. simply going Twin turbo or Supercharged would give me the power to slide the car. If I would actually start this build, I would probably go Forced Induction maybe even on a stock motor. But we are supposed to be dreaming lol

Let's turn those dreams into reality!

When you take your new GT-R drifting...(Nissan Commercial)
....or the Nurburgring.....

Hey buddy, a few points:

1. an NA build will not give you enough power to drift the heavy FX. you need FI or go V8 + built. Even if you are highly skilled it will be hard to do proper formula D-style drifts
- FI build for 400hp+ WHP with supporting mods will be at least $10k
2. You need a manual swap or a sequential auto box. The factory auto will not be sufficient for drifting (it barely is for spirited driving)
add another $7-15k at least
3. Suspension setup is KEY. The FX has a hard time being slammed and stiff because of undercarriage clearance.
add another $5k
4. If you just want the look of such drift cars, that is much easier than actually drifting the car.

Probably talking at least $30k into the car to get it drifting properly, not just donuts in a parking lot. I could think of a lot of other things to do for $30k...

If I were you I'd just keep the FX and get a drift missile on the side!
