Muteki Lug nuts on stock 20s

If I am not mistaken Muteki lugs are conical seat(or atleast all the ones I have seen are, I don't know if they make other seat styles). The stock 20's require a shank style seat.
So yes you are absolutely correct, the fitment would be off. I would not suggest driving the car like that, there is a chance the lugs could fail. I remember this happened to a honda guy and he had a catastrophic failure. I'll see if I can dig up the thread.
Muteki lugs are the left style, OEM wheels require the middle style.

Hmmm. My OEM rims and lug nuts are tapered acorns. I use Muteki acorns on my 22's and 24's. I think the shank style has only been stock on wheels for the past few years.

Strange that stock 18's and 20's of the same gen are different.
Here are my stock wheels. In the center is the profile of the OEM lug nut ('03 FX45, 20" wheels stock).

I think the OP is noticing the visual difference of the diameter. Aftermarket tuner lugs are smaller allowing for smaller holes and use a smaller diameter socket. (I've always been curious as to why this is.)
As long as the studs are the same size and the correct threads are used, the lug nut seats should engage the same amount, and thus be perfectly safe.
All of this should definitely be better verified by what the OP really means. Don't ride on bad nuts.

All of the 2nd Gen 18, 20 or 21 wheels use the shank style nuts with the washers like on the right.
As to 1st Gen wheels, I know the earlier ones use tapered acorn style lug nuts, but they may have changed in later 1st Gens . It is very obvious by the size of the lug holes in the wheels.
I know on the G35/37 they changed to shank style lug nuts in 2007 for their wheels.
The important thing is to use the proper seating lug nut with the wheel you are using. It is extremely unsafe to do otherwise.

Absolutely shank style if you have 2010 20" wheels. Make sure to switch to proper lug nuts.

I have to apologize, I looked at my 18's on my way out the door this morning, and they are indeed acorn style. I must have been off my rocker last night.
So 1st all styles Acorn seat.
2nd all styles Shank seat.
Previous information about running different style lug nuts in the wrong type seats still stands; Your gonna have a bad time.
