Motor has stopped working for a moment

Hello
Today I was driving on a highway and suddenly motor has stopped working and all lights on control panel were on and indicators on the meters stuck in place. I must stop the car and restart it and then It was OK. Has anyone experienced anything like that?

Just a thought, sometimes an engine will cut (& usually not restart) if there's a leak between the MAF (mass flow sensor) & Throttle body
 
So was there any warning? Did the engine run rough or anything before hand? It sounds electrical. Maybe loose connection; sounds like the car is turning off like you turned the ignition but obviously you did not. Similar thing happened to me, engine cut, all dash lights came on. But the cause of that was the alternator shorting out the main fuse. I only made it a few more miles before the car overheated from the fans not working.
 
Def sounds like alternator intermittent failure, happened on one of my work astro vans twice. It is scary especially on the highway! Lights go out, your like wtf and coast off on the shoulder. Check your grounds and connections as well. Good luck hope you can remedy.
 
could be a fuel or electronic ignition issue... if the alternator is bad then the battery should be able to keep the engine running until it's mostly discharged. but you won't be able to start the car after that. some autoparts stores can check your alternator while it's on the vehicle.
