What's up guys my fx35 just hit 107k few weeks ago and ever since I've been having coil problems on a weekly basis...I'm driving up from my in laws as soon as I go to jump on the highway car gives me no type of power and shuts off on me... I take it to a mechanic took him 3 days to figure out what was wrong first he said my timing chain need to be changed than he say 5 outta 6 coils went paid had to replace them fine got that done plus he also said I was getting a code for my cats but I paid it no mind ..so I'm driving just fine for a few weeks and bang same thing starts happening not as bad tho just 1 coil misfired got it changed... I got to drive the car for 2 days after changed the 1 coil than the same thing is happening like before car motor started shaking and car cut off I have no idea what's the problem before I start spending more money on coils thought I come here and ask if you guys have an idea what I can do

I changed plugs when I did a tune up about 4 months ago than mechanic said he changed all 6 plugs and coils.. Can you ever really trust a mechanic? Lol

P0305- Cylinder 5 misfire. I would tell you to take the coil from cylinder 5 and move it to cylinder 6 and vice versa, clear the cel, and drive around town and see if it throws a new code on cylinder 6. This does 2 things.. If it throws cylinder 6 then the coil is bad. If it throws 5 again, then it could be the harness or maybe the spark plug.
P0430- cat below threshold.. If you are having ignition problems it could lead to unburnt fuel getting dumped onto the cat and possibly destroying it. Time fore HFC since they are cheaper than oem. Or hit up g35driver/my350z and look for oem non hr cats in the classified

Haha good point, that's why I do basically all my own work. Your story just sounded really similar to one from not too long ago where a guy kept taking it to a mechanic and couldn't get the problem fixed and people on here were right the whole time about the issue.
So those codes are a cylinder 5 misfire, and a bank 2 O2 sensor issue. Let me get my handy dandy cylinder numbering diagram because I can never remember it.
So back left cylinder when looking from the front has the possible coil pack issue. And your driver's side O2 sensor downstream of the cat is possibly faulty, or could be the cat itself.
