We had the car for a couple weeks. We noticed this metal clanking noise in the rear cargo area. We can't pin it to a specific area, I even went and took out all of the jacks and spare tire then reinstalled them, still can't nail it down. Anybody else have an issue with this?

I had a similar issue and swore every time I heard it that it was in the cargo area, also took out and reinstalled and snugged everything back there up only for it to return! After looking around more I realized that the lowest most point of the rear bumper had come unattached under the car. I guess plastic retainers came out, not sure. Either way I was able to just zip tie it back up through the screw holes and it's good to go.

This happens in my 2011 FX35 as well.. It's very annoying. I have not been able to figure out where the sound is coming from. To me it sounds like a crock pot that is on high and the lid is starting to percolate as your chili boils. I am going to try what msnfx35 suggests and take a look under the bumper.. Hadn't thought about the issue being under the car.

Yep, I had the exact same sound. One day I thought it was my tranny as it got louder when I drove faster. Turned out to be all 5, think it's 5, of the plastic fasteners that connect the bottom of the rear bumper cover to the frame were missing. Driving 70 mph on windy day ...... flaps in the breeze. Like Msnfx said, I put some zip ties through the holes...viola, quiet again.

This was the exact case! The three fasteners were non-existent! Love me some Zip-tie fix.IMG_4935.JPG IMG_4936.JPG

I had the same problem. Exhaust was te problem. The rear demper ticking was against the frame. I changed this and the noise was gone
