Hello. Anyone here done a 6sp swap on their FX35 ? I want to begin a swap and wonder if someone out there has tried it an run into any snags. Thanks!

Been working for a while now. Haven't had time to finish interior so never brought it up since it's not really done to me. lol I have the center thing about 80% done so far, maybe in the next week or two it'll be semi done.

Nice. I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions. Does the FX accomodate the G pedal assembly or did you have go aftermarket ? Does the FX maintain block to pinion yoke depth of the G , allowing for direct installation of an aftermarket 1 pc driveshaft ?
Do these cars have a separate trans ecu/controller ? Have you had a chance to notice any potential bitching by the ecu ? Thanks again.

6MT trans is physically 1" shorter.
I'm using a z clutch pedal assembly and all the other oem hydraulics. To do this you have to remove the foot brake since they are essentially using the same spots.
Have measured 5AT and 6MT driveshaft yokes and they are the same. 1" trans meant the yoke was not as fully seated as it should be. I tried to bolt the front half of a 6MT G driveshaft since they are 2 piece like ours but the center bearing is located differently on the FX. You can't use a G35 driveshaft since the FX uses a CV joint at the differential vs u joint on the G/Z.
TCM is in the 5AT trans on the FXs, putting the harness in bypass allows for no trans check light, but because the can bus is interupted I have can bus DTC.

Manual is the bomb. Gearing is so much better overall, clutch is an Exedy Triple Carbon. Took some getting used to, but I wouldn't go back to auto.

I'm assuming the manual can handle more hp too? how much> I think the auto's start to throw up when heavily abused with a bit over 400whp right? what about the manual?

The stock 6MTs have been running into the 1000hp range so these can take much more abuse than the 5ATs. My auto had the internals done, vb, tc so it was up for the abuse anyhow. Have never experienced slippage with the configuration it was in. Ran it up to 19psi on the open road at HIN AZ felt great, which sort of veered me down the hp path again. hahahaha

A shop out here did the work. Internals were Level 10 parts, TC was edge racing, VB was the transgo kit. Took 500hp on the dyno all the time, took 16 or 17 psi to make 500 to the wheel.

Rookie, I know your not really done with the mod, but how much would it run to get that work done. It must feel like a whole new car with it being 6MT. I would love to get this mod done. I really do miss driving a MT. Auto feels like the car is doing all the work and your just the one that hits the gas.

My clutch was expensive, list is almost if not over 3k. I got it for 2500, all the parts were new except I got the hand brake used not know if it would work or not.

Labor was 1500 I brought all the parts in.

Not bad, it's something that's doable. Only problem I'm going to have is finding a mechanic that knows what he's doing. Something to consider in the future.

wow.. that is pretty pimp - I'm surprised the shifter worked so well - I would've imagined the trans to be a lot lower, but I guess for ground clearance it hugs the body? (or you banged out the tunnel a bit?)

Anyway, Cool mod for sure, and the boost is probably just as much fun.

It's not that the trans is lower dimensions minus the length are pretty close, the 5AT lever is just very tall. I had to lose the center air ducts that were below the console. One reason came out for the hand brake, the other came out because trying to fit any console around the air duct while still having decent arm space to use the shifter was just not going to work.

Boost is much much more fun with the clutch.
