I've been researching....
VK56 actually weighs less then the VK45. Engine height is a little higher, not much if any wider then each other.
Someone do a swap, the VK56 manifold can be swapped out for something with more top end design.

9.8:1 compression, so not bad at all for FI from the stock block.
VK56DE engine mounts are different, but might bolt up to the tranny. Original thought was VK56DE engine swap with Stillen bolt-on supercharger.
No local tuner wanted to tackle it so tried to build a custom stroker kit using the VK56DE crank.
Another local tuner I talked to did this to a M45 (STS):

Everyone I talked to talked me out of the STS due to harsh winters, salt will eventually eat it up.
Maybe I should just sell my FX45 and buy a 2003 FX35 and put this in:

Viet, if you have any ideas for the VK45DE, let me know. I was hoping doing research on the Fuga but still nothing.
I wonder if people remember that 2004 Turbo FX45 done by AAM? It's now at UpRev now getting tuned.
I might stay NA and try to get some long tube headers made and the tune by UpRev.

This was Forsbergs debut, he doesn't run the manifolds forward, he runs them traditionally.
So forward headers is doable, smaller primaries then the headers used and you can mount a bit single forward or twins.
All about how committed you are. lol

That's a 6MT, you can see the plate adapter to mate the bell housing.
Committed is one way of putting it, independantly wealthy is another.

I wouldn't take my FX to GTM if they paid me to. Good shop, just not my kind of shop. I like a working vehicle.
